A Weekend Retreat at Sama Sama Hotel KLIA
I've stayed at Sama Sama Hotel KLIA, formerly Pan Pacific KLIA, numerous times. It's a favorite weekend getaway spot due to its convenient location next to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.
Room Details and Booking
On this occasion, I booked a Deluxe room. While the standard rate is around RM500, I utilized the corporate rate for MAG employees, securing the room for RM280. This price excludes breakfast and an 8% tax.
I arrived at the hotel around 3:10 PM and proceeded to the check-in counter in the spacious and beautifully designed lobby. Breakfast is served in a restaurant on the same level.
The check-in process was swift. My room was located on the 8th floor. I requested a room with a view of the Air Traffic Control Tower to watch planes take off.
Exploring the Deluxe Room
The Deluxe room offers a generous 387 square feet of space. Upon entering, a large wardrobe is immediately to the right. Inside, there's ample hanging space, two bathrobes, a safety deposit box, an iron, and an ironing board.
Adjacent to the wardrobe is a cabinet housing a mini-fridge stocked with complimentary drinks, biscuits, and chocolates. Coffee and tea making facilities are placed on top of the cabinet.
Living and Sleeping Areas
The sleeping area features a king-sized bed and a moderately sized sofa to the left of the bed. A small round table sits at the end of the sofa, near the window.
A large work desk is positioned in the left corner at the foot of the bed, complete with a chair and a reading lamp. A 50-inch TV is mounted on the wall opposite the foot of the bed, a common feature in most hotels.
Bathroom Amenities
The bathroom, situated to the left of the entrance, is also spacious. It includes a sink, toilet, bathtub, and a shower area.
A bidet is provided next to the toilet. The shower area is fully enclosed by transparent glass and is somewhat narrow, featuring only a handheld showerhead. The bathtub is of a medium size. The hotel provides a full range of toiletries.
Hotel Facilities
The hotel boasts a swimming pool, which is currently closed for renovation. The spa is also temporarily unavailable.
However, the gymnasium, sauna, and jacuzzi are operational. The 24-hour restaurant in the lobby served as my dining spot for dinner. I tried the Tom Yum Goong, priced at RM38, which I found to be very delicious.
In-room dining is also available, offering the same menu as the restaurant.
Connectivity and Water Pressure
The complimentary in-room WiFi offers speeds of around 10mbps. For mobile connectivity, Tune Talk provided speeds of 347mbps, while CelcomDigi offered 303mbps.
The hotel's TV channels are not in HD and the selection is limited. The water pressure in the bathroom is strong, though a ceiling showerhead is notably absent.
Overall Impression and Location
Sama Sama Hotel KLIA is undeniably beautiful, though its price point is somewhat high, likely due to its airport location.
I enjoy returning here not only for its aesthetics but also for its serene atmosphere, which is perfect for relaxation and unwinding. Despite being busy, the hotel doesn't feel crowded. Many guests use it as a resting point or transit lounge for early flights.
The hotel is adjacent to KLIA Terminal 1, and a buggy service is available for guest convenience. Public transport users can take the ERL train and alight at KLIA Terminal 1 Station.
For those interested in shopping, Mitsui Outlet Park is located 6.3km away.
