Sama Sama Hotel KLIA Review: A Relaxing Staycation at Kuala Lumpur Airport

Review of Sama Sama Hotel KLIA

My recent stay at the Sama Sama Hotel KLIA on August 22-23, 2025, was a delightful experience. This hotel, formerly known as Pan Pacific KLIA, is a personal favorite for weekend getaways. Its prime location adjacent to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 makes it incredibly convenient.

Room Details and Booking

I opted for a Deluxe room. While the standard rate is around RM500, I utilized a corporate rate for MAG employees, bringing the cost down to RM280. This price excluded breakfast and an 8% tax.

Upon arriving at approximately 3:10 PM, I proceeded to the check-in counter in the hotel's spacious and aesthetically pleasing lobby. The check-in process was swift, and I was assigned a room on the 8th floor. I specifically requested a room overlooking the Air Traffic Control Tower to watch planes take off and land.

Deluxe Room Features

The Deluxe room boasts a generous 387 square feet of space. Immediately upon entering, a large wardrobe is situated to the right. Inside, there's ample hanging space, two bathrobes, a safety deposit box, an iron, and an ironing board. Adjacent to the wardrobe is a cabinet housing a mini-fridge stocked with complimentary drinks, biscuits, and chocolates. Amenities for making hot beverages are placed on top of the cabinet.

The sleeping area features a king-sized bed and a moderately sized sofa to the left of the bed. At the end of the sofa, near the window, sits a small round table. A spacious work desk is located in the left corner at the foot of the bed, complete with a chair and a reading lamp. A 50-inch television is mounted on the wall opposite the bed, a common feature in many hotels.

Bathroom Facilities

The bathroom, positioned to the left of the entrance, is quite expansive. It includes a sink, toilet, bathtub, and a shower area. While there's a bidet next to the toilet, the shower area is fully enclosed by transparent glass and feels somewhat narrow. It only offers a handheld showerhead. The bathtub is of a medium size, and the hotel provides a full range of toiletries.

Hotel Amenities and Dining

The hotel's swimming pool is currently closed for renovation, and the spa is also not operational. However, the gymnasium, sauna, and jacuzzi are open and functioning as usual. The restaurant in the lobby operates 24 hours. I had dinner there and tried the Tom Yum Goong, priced at RM38, which I found to be exceptionally delicious. In-room dining is also available, offering the same menu as the restaurant.

Connectivity and Services

The complimentary in-room Wi-Fi offers speeds of around 10mbps. For mobile connectivity, Tune Talk provided impressive speeds of 347mbps, and CelcomDigi was close behind at 303mbps. The hotel's selection of free-to-air TV channels is limited and not in HD. Water pressure in the bathroom was strong, though a ceiling-mounted showerhead is absent.

Overall Impression and Location

Sama Sama Hotel KLIA is undeniably beautiful, though its price point is somewhat high, likely due to its airport location. I enjoy returning here not only for its aesthetic appeal but also for its serene atmosphere, which is perfect for relaxation and unwinding. Despite the number of guests, the hotel doesn't feel crowded, as most visitors are either transiting or seeking a quiet place to rest before their next flight.

The hotel is situated right next to KLIA Terminal 1, and a buggy service is available for guest convenience. For those using public transportation, the ERL (Express Rail Link) is an option, with the nearest station being KLIA Terminal 1. For shopping enthusiasts, Mitsui Outlet Park is approximately 6.3km away.
