A Second Delightful Stay at Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown
This marks my second visit to this fantastic hotel, following my initial stay just last month. Having opened its doors on August 26th, this gem is nestled in Dutamas, directly across from the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). My latest booking was through the Trip.com app, securing a King room for RM425.89. This price, while inclusive of taxes, did not cover breakfast.
First Impressions and a Warm Welcome
I arrived a little earlier than usual, around 12:40 PM, and headed straight for the lobby. It's a wonderfully spacious and visually stunning area. Alongside the reception desks, there's a restaurant on the same level where guests enjoy their morning meals. I was warmly greeted by the Front Office Manager, En Muzhaffar Rashman, whose friendliness was immediately apparent. The check-in process was seamless, and a deposit of RM200 was taken. To my pleasant surprise, I was upgraded to a complimentary Corner Room with a breathtaking view of Kuala Lumpur. Armed with my room key card, I made my way to the 11th floor via one of the five readily available elevators, with minimal waiting time.
A Spacious and Well-Appointed Room
Stepping into my room, which boasts a generous 452 square feet, I noticed a convenient open rack to the right of the entrance. This housed an iron and ironing board, along with a safety deposit box. Adjacent to this was a comfortable sofa positioned by the window, offering a lovely view of the swimming pool. Further in, another open cabinet provided ample space for hanging clothes and storing belongings, complete with a plush bathrobe. Beside this cabinet, a mini-fridge was discreetly located. Above it, you'll find everything needed for brewing your favorite beverages, including a modern coffee machine.
Comfort and Functionality in the Sleeping Area
The sleeping area itself features a king-sized bed. To the left of the bed, a substantial sofa invites relaxation. Behind the sofa, a large window offers panoramic views of the MITEC complex and the vibrant Kuala Lumpur cityscape. Facing the sofa, a generously sized round table paired with a chair creates a perfect spot for work or leisure. Opposite the foot of the bed, a sleek TV rack holds a large 65-inch television.
An Impressive Bathroom Oasis
Opposite the clothing rack is the bathroom, accessible via a lockable sliding door. It's impressively spacious, featuring a double vanity, a private toilet area, and a dedicated shower space. The toilet area is enclosed by translucent glass for privacy, while the shower area is entirely transparent. Both sections offer ample room and a sense of comfort. The hotel provides a smart toilet with remote control functionality but omits a bidet hose. The shower itself offers a choice of a handheld showerhead or a soothing rainfall shower from above. Another set of bathrobes is provided within the bathroom, alongside a comprehensive array of toiletries.
The Stunning Outdoor Pool and Fitness Facilities
The hotel's outdoor swimming pool, located on the 5th floor, is truly a sight to behold. Its generous size and the unique marble flooring, rather than the typical tiles, contribute to its beauty. This flooring likely enhances the refreshing coolness of the water, which is treated with salt instead of chlorine. Adjacent to the pool is a large jacuzzi, perfect for unwinding. The pool is open from 7 AM to 8 PM, and the ambiance at night is simply magical. The views from the pool area, overlooking the city, are spectacular.
Also on the same level is a fully equipped gymnasium, accessible 24 hours a day, catering to all fitness enthusiasts.
Technology, Amenities, and Service Excellence
The complimentary in-room Wi-Fi is remarkably fast, clocking in at an impressive 127mbps. For mobile connectivity, Tune Talk delivered speeds of 85mbps, and CelcomDigi provided 79mbps. Beyond the large television, the hotel offers an extensive selection of free channels, many of which are in high definition. The water pressure in the shower was excellent, making for a thoroughly satisfying bathing experience. For those traveling by car, the hotel offers abundant free parking. My check-out was conveniently extended until 1:00 PM.
Final Thoughts on a Memorable Stay
This hotel truly shines, especially after dark. The rooms are impeccably clean, spacious, and offer a high level of comfort. All the furnishings and amenities felt brand new, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. While its location directly opposite MITEC is convenient for that venue, it is a bit removed from the city center. Publika Shopping Mall is about 1.8 km away. The nearest MRT station, Semantan, is approximately 6 km from the hotel. I'm incredibly grateful to En Muzhaffar once again for the complimentary room upgrade.
