A Return to Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown: A Glimpse into Luxury
This marks my second visit to this remarkable hotel, following a delightful stay just last month. Newly opened on August 26th, the Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur is strategically situated in Dutamas, directly opposite the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). For this particular occasion, I booked a King room through the Trip.com app, priced at RM425.89. This rate thoughtfully included taxes but did not encompass breakfast.
Arrival and Seamless Check-in
Arriving slightly ahead of schedule, around 12:40 PM, I headed straight for the hotel lobby. The lobby is impressively spacious and exuding sheer beauty. Alongside the reception desks, a restaurant occupies the same level, serving as the breakfast venue for guests. I was warmly welcomed by the Front Office Manager, En Muzhaffar Rashman, whose affability truly stood out. The check-in process was incredibly smooth, with the hotel requiring a deposit of RM200. To my pleasant surprise, I was graciously upgraded to a Corner Room with stunning views of Kuala Lumpur, completely free of charge. Upon receiving my room access card, I promptly made my way to the elevators, heading for my room on the 11th floor. The hotel boasts five elevators, and thankfully, the wait times were remarkably short.
A Closer Look at the King Room
Stepping into my room, which offers a generous 452 square feet of space, I noticed an open rack to the right of the entrance. This area was equipped with an iron and ironing board, along with a safety deposit box. Adjacent to this was a comfortable sofa positioned beside a large window, offering a lovely view of the swimming pool. Further into the room, an open cabinet provided hanging space for clothes and storage for belongings, including a pair of plush bathrobes. Next to this cabinet, another section housed a mini-refrigerator. Above it, I found amenities for preparing beverages, including a coffee maker.
Room Layout and Amenities
The sleeping area featured a king-sized bed, complemented by a generously sized sofa situated to the left of the bed. The back of this sofa overlooked the window, providing picturesque views of the MITEC building and the vibrant Kuala Lumpur cityscape. Opposite the sofa was a substantial round table paired with a chair, ideal for guests who might need to work or catch up on emails. Across from the foot of the bed, a large 65-inch TV was mounted on a dedicated media unit.
Luxurious Bathroom Facilities
The bathroom, located opposite the wardrobe area, is accessible via a lockable sliding door. It's quite spacious, encompassing two sinks, a toilet area, and a separate shower space. The toilet area is enclosed by frosted glass for privacy, while the shower area features completely transparent glass. Both sections felt ample and wonderfully comfortable. The hotel provided a toilet with remote-controlled features and notably, no bidet spray. The shower offered a dual experience with both a handheld showerhead and a rainfall shower from the ceiling. An additional pair of bathrobes were hung inside the bathroom. The provision of complete toiletries was also a welcome touch.
The Exquisite Outdoor Pool and Gym
The hotel's stunning outdoor swimming pool is located on the 5th floor. It's both beautiful and expansive. What truly sets this pool apart is its marble flooring, a striking departure from the typical tiles found in most hotels. This unique feature, coupled with the use of saltwater instead of chlorine, might explain the delightfully cool water temperature. Adjacent to the pool is a generously sized jacuzzi. The pool is open daily from 7 AM to 8 PM, and I can attest that the ambiance at night is truly magical. The views from the pool area are simply breathtaking, overlooking the Kuala Lumpur skyline. On the same level, a fully equipped gymnasium is available for guests 24 hours a day.
Connectivity, Services, and Departure
The complimentary in-room Wi-Fi proved to be exceptionally fast, with speeds reaching an impressive 127mbps. For mobile connectivity, Tune Talk offered speeds of 85mbps, while CelcomDigi provided 79mbps. Beyond the large television, the hotel offers a wide array of free-to-air channels, many of which are in high definition. The water pressure in the bathroom was excellent, making for a thoroughly satisfying shower experience. For guests arriving by car, ample free parking is available. My check-out was permitted at 1:00 PM, providing a relaxed departure.
Overall Impression and Location
This hotel is undeniably beautiful, especially when illuminated at night. The rooms are impeccably clean, generously sized, and supremely comfortable. All the furnishings felt brand new, and the staff's service was exceptionally friendly. In terms of location, while it sits directly opposite MITEC, it is a bit removed from the city center. Publika shopping mall is approximately 1.8 km away. The nearest MRT station is Semantan MRT Station, located about 6 km from the hotel. Once again, I extend my gratitude to En Muzhaffar for the complimentary room upgrade.
