Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown: A Second Delightful Stay
This was my second visit to this incredible hotel, just a month after my first. Having officially opened its doors on August 26th, the Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur is conveniently situated in Dutamas, directly opposite the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). This time around, I booked a King room through the Trip.com app for RM425.89. This rate included all taxes but notably, no breakfast.
A Warm Welcome and a Room with a View
I arrived a little early, around 12:40 PM, and headed straight to the lobby. The lobby itself is impressively spacious and beautifully designed. Alongside the reception counters, a restaurant on the same level serves as the breakfast venue for guests. I was warmly greeted by the Front Office Manager, Mr. Muzhaffar Rashman, whose friendliness truly enhanced my arrival experience. The check-in process was remarkably smooth. The hotel requires a deposit of RM200. To my delight, I received a complimentary upgrade to a Corner Room with a stunning view of Kuala Lumpur. Armed with my room key card, I took one of the five available lifts, which were quick to arrive, up to my room on the 11th floor.
Discovering the Spacious King Room
Upon entering my 452 square feet room, a convenient open shelf to the right of the door housed an iron, ironing board, and a safety deposit box. Adjacent to this, a comfortable sofa sat beside a large window offering a picturesque view of the swimming pool. Further in, another open cabinet provided space for hanging clothes and storing luggage, complete with a plush bathrobe. Next to this, a mini-refrigerator was neatly tucked away. Above it, I found the amenities for preparing beverages, including a coffee machine.
Comfort and Functionality in the Sleeping Area
The sleeping area boasted a plush king-sized bed. To the left of the bed, a generously sized sofa provided a cozy spot to relax. The back of the sofa faced a large window with captivating views of the MITEC building and the Kuala Lumpur cityscape. Opposite the sofa, a round table paired with a chair offered a dedicated workspace for any necessary office tasks. Facing the foot of the bed, a large 65-inch television was mounted on a wall unit.
A Luxurious and Well-Appointed Bathroom
The bathroom, conveniently located opposite the wardrobe area, featured a lockable sliding door. It was impressively spacious, equipped with twin sinks, a toilet area, and a shower space. The toilet area was separated by frosted glass, while the shower area featured fully transparent glass, offering both privacy and a sense of openness. Both areas felt ample and comfortable. The hotel provided a technologically advanced toilet with a remote control and did not feature a bidet shower. The shower itself offered two options: a handheld showerhead and a luxurious rain shower from the ceiling. Another pair of bathrobes was found hanging inside the bathroom. The hotel thoughtfully supplied a comprehensive range of toiletries.
The Stunning Outdoor Pool and 24-Hour Gym
The hotel's outdoor swimming pool, situated on the 5th floor, is truly a sight to behold. It's both beautiful and expansive. What sets it apart is its marble flooring, a refreshing departure from the typical tiles found in most hotels. This unique feature, along with the use of saltwater instead of chlorine, likely contributes to the wonderfully cool water temperature. Adjacent to the pool is a generously sized jacuzzi, perfect for unwinding. The pool area is open from 7 AM to 8 PM daily. The ambiance at night is particularly magical, and the views of the Kuala Lumpur skyline from the pool deck are breathtaking. Also on this level is a fully equipped gymnasium, available for use around the clock.
Seamless Connectivity and Excellent Amenities
The complimentary in-room Wi-Fi was exceptionally fast, registering speeds of up to 127mbps. For mobile connectivity, Tune Talk provided 85mbps, and CelcomDigi offered 79mbps. Beyond the large television screen, the hotel offered a wide array of free-to-air channels, with most broadcasting in high definition. The water pressure in the bathroom was excellent, making for a thoroughly satisfying shower experience. For guests with vehicles, ample free parking is available. My check-out was also extended, allowing me to leave at 1:00 PM.
A Truly Memorable Stay
This hotel is absolutely gorgeous, especially when illuminated at night. The room was spotlessly clean, generously sized, and incredibly comfortable. All the furnishings and amenities felt brand new, and the staff's service was exceptionally warm and welcoming. While its location opposite MITEC is convenient, it is a bit removed from the city center. Publika shopping mall is 1.8 km away, and the nearest MRT station, Semantan, is approximately 6 km from the hotel. I'm especially grateful to Mr. Muzhaffar once again for the unexpected room upgrade.
