A Weekend Escape at Hilton Petaling Jaya

Hotel: Hilton Petaling Jaya

Date: July 5-6, 2025

Room: King Premium Executive (one-category upgrade as a Hilton Honors Gold member)

Booking: Hilton Honors

Price: RM345.74 nett

Continuing the quest to achieve 20 nights before December 31st, taking advantage of the current 25% off promotion for Hilton hotels, I recently enjoyed a stay at the Hilton Petaling Jaya.

The Experience

Check-in: I arrived around 1 PM and was informed that the room wasn't quite ready. I was invited to wait in the Executive Lounge on the 21st floor.

Elevator: Note that new elevators are being installed, which might result in longer waiting times.

Executive Lounge

The Executive Lounge is open from 6 AM to 10 PM. Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM (Monday-Friday) and until 11 AM (Saturday/Sunday). Evening cocktails are available from 6 PM to 8 PM. Outside of these hours, pastries, tea, coffee, soft drinks, and chilled juices are available.

The Room

The room felt modern and bright after the hotel's refurbishment last year. The King Premium Executive room includes a Nespresso machine with four coffee pods, which are replenished during turndown service.

Evening Cocktails

The evening cocktail selection offered a variety of hot dishes, including mi goreng mamak, tandoori chicken, spring rolls, kuih udang (prawn fritters), chicken and leek pie, and desserts like pengat pisang (banana stew) and assorted local kuih. During this stay, the evening cocktail service was more organized and pleasant, despite the larger number of guests, compared to my visit last year, which was quite chaotic.

Breakfast at Paya Serai

As always, the breakfast buffet at Paya Serai provided a wide array of choices, including unique options like boiled sweet potatoes, nasi dagang with tuna, soto ayam (chicken soup), and sayur lodeh (vegetable stew). Don't miss the nasi lemak with various side dishes like ayam goreng rempah (spiced fried chicken), rendang ayam (chicken rendang), and sambal sotong (squid sambal). For children, the ice cream and chocolate fountain are sure to be a hit.

Executive Lounge Breakfast

Breakfast in the Executive Lounge offered more upscale choices, such as smoked salmon.

Late Check-out

Due to high occupancy, a late check-out was not available for this stay.

Final Thoughts

Overall, this stay was an improvement compared to last year's visit. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to sharing my next experience, perhaps at another Hilton or even Le Meridien Putrajaya.

Hilton Honors Gold Status

For those asking how to obtain Hilton Honors Gold status:

  • Stay 20 times/40 nights at hotels within the Hilton portfolio.
  • If you have elite status with Accor, IHG, Hyatt, or Marriott, you can try a status match.
