A Weekend Getaway at Hilton Petaling Jaya

Hotel: Hilton Petaling Jaya
Date: July 5-6, 2025
Room: King Premium Executive (one category upgrade as a Hilton Honors Gold member)
Booking: Hilton Honors
Price: RM345.74 nett

Continuing my quest to reach 20 nights at Hilton properties before December 31st, thanks to the ongoing 25% off promotion, I spent a delightful weekend at the Hilton Petaling Jaya.

Check-in and First Impressions

Upon arrival around 1 PM, I was informed that my room wasn't quite ready. I was invited to relax in the Executive Lounge on the 21st floor while waiting.

A Note on the Elevators

It's worth noting that new elevators are currently being installed. Consequently, the wait times for the elevators may be a bit longer than usual.

Executive Lounge Experience

The Executive Lounge is open from 6 AM to 10 PM. Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM (Monday-Friday) and until 11 AM on weekends. Evening cocktails are available from 6 PM to 8 PM. Outside of these hours, a selection of pastries, tea, coffee, soft drinks, and chilled juices are available.

The Room: Modern and Bright

The King Premium Executive room was noticeably modern and bright, a testament to the hotel's recent refurbishment last year. A welcome addition was the Nespresso machine with four coffee pods, which were replenished during turndown service.

Evening Cocktail Delights

The evening cocktail selection featured a variety of hot dishes, including Mee Goreng Mamak, Tandoori Chicken, Spring Rolls, Kuih Udang, Chicken and Leek Pie, and tempting desserts like Pengat Pisang and assorted local kuih. This visit's evening cocktail service was well-managed and organized, especially compared to last year's, which was busier and less structured.

Breakfast at Paya Serai: A Feast of Flavors

As always, breakfast at Paya Serai offered an extensive range of choices, including unique items like boiled sweet potatoes, Nasi Dagang with Ikan Tongkol (tuna), Soto Ayam (chicken soup), and Sayur Lodeh (vegetable stew). Of course, Nasi Lemak with various sides such as Ayam Goreng Rempah (spiced fried chicken), Rendang Ayam (chicken rendang), and Sambal Sotong (squid in chili paste) were also available. Children will undoubtedly be thrilled by the presence of ice cream and a chocolate fountain.

Executive Lounge Breakfast: A Touch of Luxury

The Executive Lounge offered a more upscale breakfast option, including smoked salmon.

Late Checkout: A Matter of Availability

Due to high occupancy, the hotel was unable to grant a late checkout on this occasion.

Final Thoughts: An Improved Experience

Overall, this stay was a definite improvement compared to last year. Thank you for reading, and I look forward to sharing my next hotel review, perhaps from another Hilton property or even Le Meridien Putrajaya.

Hilton Gold Status: How to Achieve It

For those wondering how to obtain Hilton Gold status:

  • Complete 20 stays or 40 nights at hotels within the Hilton portfolio.
  • If you hold elite status with Accor, IHG, Hyatt, or Marriott, you can try for a status match.
