With a fantastic 25% off Hilton hotels promotion still running, my quest to reach 20 nights before December 31st continues! This week's destination: Hilton Petaling Jaya.

Checking In

I arrived around 1 PM and was informed that my room wasn't quite ready. The friendly staff invited me to wait comfortably in the Executive Lounge on the 21st floor.

Elevator Updates

Please note that the hotel is currently upgrading its elevators. Expect slightly longer wait times as the installation of new elevators progresses.

Executive Lounge Experience

The Executive Lounge offers a great experience! It's open from 6 AM to 10 PM, serving breakfast from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM (Monday-Friday) and until 11 AM (Saturday/Sunday). Evening cocktails are available from 6 PM to 8 PM. Outside of these hours, a selection of pastries, tea, coffee, soft drinks, and chilled juices are always available.

The Room: King Premium Executive

The room felt modern and bright, a testament to the hotel's recent renovations. A definite highlight was the Nespresso machine with four coffee pods, thoughtfully replenished during turndown service.

Evening Cocktail

The evening cocktail selection was impressive. Hot food options included delicious mee goreng mamak, flavorful tandoori chicken, crispy spring rolls, savory kuih udang (prawn fritters), and a comforting chicken and leek pie. For dessert, there was creamy pengat pisang (banana stewed in coconut milk) and a variety of local Malaysian cakes (kuih).

This time around, the evening cocktail hour felt relaxed and well-managed, even with a good number of guests. It was definitely an improvement compared to last year's stay, which was a bit more hectic.

Breakfast at Paya Serai

As always, breakfast at Paya Serai was a feast! The buffet offered a wide variety of options, with some unique dishes like boiled sweet potatoes, nasi dagang with tuna, soto ayam (chicken soup), and sayur lodeh (vegetable stew). Of course, I couldn't miss the nasi lemak with a tempting selection of sides like fried chicken with spices, chicken rendang, and sambal squid. Kids will definitely be delighted with the ice cream and chocolate fountain!

Executive Lounge Breakfast Perks

Breakfast in the Executive Lounge offered a more upscale experience, with the addition of smoked salmon to the spread.

Late Checkout

Due to high occupancy, the hotel wasn't able to grant a late checkout for this stay.

Final Thoughts

Overall, this stay was a significant improvement over my experience last year. Thanks for reading, and I look forward to sharing my next hotel adventure, perhaps at another Hilton or maybe Le Meridien Putrajaya!
