Discovering Tomahawk Heaven in Saigon
I recently stumbled upon what I consider one of Saigon's best steakhouses for Tomahawk steaks! They use Black Angus MB4, dry-aged for 35 days, and expertly grilled in a Kamado Joe oven.
Perfectly Sized Tomahawk
What sets this place apart is its availability of Tomahawk steaks in a manageable 700g - 800g range. Most other places offer much larger cuts, often starting at 1.5kg, which significantly increases the price. My Tomahawk, weighing in at just over 700g, cost 388k/100g, totaling roughly 2.8 million – a relatively affordable price compared to other restaurants offering this cut in Saigon.
Beyond Steak: A Culinary Journey
The owner, who also runs a company importing Australian beef and the Sol pho chain, clearly has a passion for quality. It shines through in the restaurant's meticulous approach to food. The space is intimate, almost boutique-like, but the wine list is exceptional. The menu offers a wide variety of choices, from soups and cold cuts to salads, tapas, oysters, and even caviar.
Aside from the Tomahawk, I highly recommend the Wagyu don (298k), a unique take on the classic Japanese beef rice bowl, showcasing the restaurant's inventive spirit. Other notable dishes include the Foie Gras (368k) served with grape sauce, the Baked Cod (428k) accompanied by a manchego cream cheese sauce and Italian risotto, and the flavorful Duck Confit (358k), prepared using the traditional French slow-cooking method.
