Hội An Getaway: A Quick Review (June 1, 2025)

Where We Stayed: Green Garden Villas Hội An

We stayed at Green Garden Villas Hội An (53 Phan Đình Phùng, Hội An). They have a pool, which was a big plus! For our family of two adults and four kids, we booked a family room with two large double beds for 700k VND. If you're traveling with a smaller group, they also offer rooms with one large double bed for 450k VND.

Overall Service: I'd give it a 9.5/10. It's a family-style villa, so you're sharing the property with the owners who live downstairs, but it felt very private, and the owners were very accommodating.

Food Finds in Hội An

Phở Liến

Phở Liến (on La Hối street) is a must-try. It's the same famous spot from the Ancient Town, now relocated! Besides phở, they also serve a banh mi with a unique chả spread. It was a little sweet for my taste, but still worth trying! A small bowl of phở costs 20-25k VND, a large bowl 30-35k VND, and the banh mi is 10k VND.

Our Rating: 9.5/10

Cơm Gà (Chicken Rice) Adventures

I asked for recommendations on a group and Cơm Gà Nga was mentioned, but it was too crowded. So, we popped into Phúc restaurant next door. Honestly, the experience wasn't great. Even though the restaurant had few customers, the service was incredibly slow. Our family of six waited forever for our food. The cơm gà was swimming in a watery broth, like chicken broth mixed with rice. The cao lầu had only a couple of thin slices of meat and very few noodles. I wanted to support the restaurant, but it was a disappointing experience.

Our Rating: I don't even want to give it a rating! I wish I could offer some constructive feedback, but I'm not sure who to tell.

We also tried to visit Cô Một's grilled meat restaurant, but it was packed and sold out! I guess it's a popular spot that runs out of food quickly. I'll try to go earlier next time!

Sweet Treats and Fun Activities

Simple Candy: A Candy Making Workshop

My youngest saw a TikTok video about a candy making workshop. We found Simple Candy at 34 Nguyễn Thị Mjnh Khai. The kids got to experience making candy firsthand! It was 135k VND per child (and since it was June 1st, we got a "buy one get one free" deal!). The kids loved it and were thrilled with their loot: a candy making workshop certificate and two cute bags of homemade candy. Then we bought MrBeast chocolate for 95k VND. The kids are huge fans!

Hopefully, this little review will help you plan your Hội An trip!
