Hotel Hopping in Singapore: A Quick & Lively Review!

Hey everyone! I'm sharing my recent hotel experiences in Singapore for those of you planning a trip soon. I was on the hunt for budget-friendly, quiet, and private accommodations, perfect for overnight stays so I could explore the city, covering around 20km each day!

My Singapore Hotel Adventures: The Good, The Bad, and The Unexpected!

  • Lion Peak Hotel Purvis (Permanently Closed!) - A Wild Goose Chase

Okay, so I booked this place a month in advance. Big oops! Turns out, the hotel was CLOSED! I arrived to find only a Coffee Kai shop. Initially, I calmly tried to find the hotel based on directions from the Kai staff and locals, even calling the hotline… but no luck. After almost an hour of wandering, I finally stumbled upon a hotel with a Lion Peak Hotel sign at the reception. The staff then informed me that the hotel I booked had been closed for a while. They checked with their chain and directed me to another hotel nearby, also with a Lion Peak Hotel sign. This location wasn't super spacious or modern, but it was right in the heart of Bugis! Super close to Bugis Cube and Bugis Junction. Plus, walking distance to Little India, Marina Bay Sands, Fort Canning, and even Orchard Road (about a 15-25 minute walk).
Price: A little over 1 million VND/night (roughly $40-$50 USD).

  • Porcelain Hotel - Chinatown Charm with a Slight Squeeze

This hotel is right in Chinatown, close to the MRT, markets, and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. From the outside, it looks pretty standard, but the check-in lobby is surprisingly chic! The rooms, however, are quite small, not exactly spacious enough to fully unpack your luggage. You'd have to repack immediately just to have room to walk!
Since I booked on a Saturday, the price was a bit higher (over 2 million VND or around $80-$100 USD).

  • Butternut Tree Hotel - My Top Pick!

I thought this one was the best! The room was spacious, with complete bathroom amenities, and the check-in lobby was super cute. There were also some nice buildings in front of the hotel, perfect for some photo ops. The only downside? It's a bit on the edge of Chinatown, about a 10-minute walk to the main area.
The price was also the most budget-friendly of the three!

Hope this helps you choose the right hotel for your upcoming trip! Photos are for illustrative purposes only.
