Getting to Penang International Airport (PEN)
- 9:00 AM, April 4, 2025: Journey began from Swing and Pillows hotel @ 87 Muntri, Penang.
- Grab estimates ranged from 42-55 RM. Opted for Indrive, initially selecting 30 RM. A counteroffer of 35 RM was accepted – deal!
- Smooth, traffic-free ride of approximately 18 kilometers.
- Penang Airport is compact. Initially headed to the domestic terminal (right side), but quickly redirected to the international terminal (left side) – well-signed and easy to navigate. With mobile check-in completed, breeze through the security checks.
Waiting at the Gate & Airport Amenities
- 10:00 AM: Arrived at Gate A1A. Plenty of seating available.
- NOOODLES restaurant is conveniently located nearby (offering fried chicken, fries, vegetable noodles, seafood noodles, various beverages, and ample seating). Be warned: prices are higher than AirAsia's in-flight menu!
- Spent the remaining time browsing jewelry and souvenir shops.
Boarding & In-Flight Experience
- 11:40 AM: Entered the pre-boarding waiting area.
- 12:10 PM: Started queuing to board the AirAsia flight.
- 12:15 PM: Walked through the boarding tunnel onto the aircraft.
Arrival at Singapore Changi Airport (SNG)
- 1:30 PM (SGT): Arrived in Singapore! Joined the immigration queue. (Pro Tip: Remember to switch back to your local SIM card and restart your phone as you approach Singapore!)
- 2:15 PM: Cleared immigration security.
- 2:25 PM: Grab ride home.
