Sheraton Kota Kinabalu (14-15/1/2026)
From Le Meridien, I walked to the third hotel located 550 meters away. This hotel, which had just opened two weeks ago, is located on Jalan Albert Kwok, opposite the Centre Point building. I booked a Standard Guest Room, City View. This room is the cheapest in the hotel. On the Marriott Bonvoy app, this room costs RM616 (without breakfast).
I arrived around 1:10 PM and checked in immediately. The hotel lobby is spacious and beautiful. The check-in process was quick, and the hotel charged a deposit of RM200. I was given the same type of room but facing the sea (sea view). Since my room was already ready, I was immediately given the room access card on Level 11. There are five elevators in the hotel. According to the staff on duty, only half of the rooms are open for booking at the moment, the rest are not fully completed yet.
The room I stayed in is spacious and has very beautiful interior decoration. It has an area of 430 square feet. Upon entering the room, there is an open wardrobe space on the left side of the entrance door. Here, there is also a safe, iron, and ironing board. Two pairs of bathrobes are hung here.
On the right side is the bathroom with an open concept. The wall can be opened and closed with a sliding glass wall. Inside the bathroom, there is a sink, toilet, shower area, and bathtub. The bathtub is large and beautiful. The shower area and toilet area are fully enclosed with frosted glass. The hotel provides a bidet in the toilet area, and in the shower area, there are two types of showers. The shower area is also spacious and very comfortable. The hotel provides complete bathroom amenities.
In the bed area, besides one king bed, there is a fairly large sofa on the right side of the bed. Here, there is also a single sofa and a large round table. Meanwhile, on the right side of the foot of the bed, there is a cabinet that houses a mini fridge and equipment for making drinks. A 65-inch TV is mounted on the wall opposite the foot of the bed. The room I stayed in has a very beautiful view, facing the sea.
What makes this hotel special is its rooftop swimming pool on Level 23. The pool is quite large and has a very beautiful view facing the sea. Next to the pool, there is a restaurant. On the same level, there is also a gymnasium and sauna. The hotel pool is open from 6 AM to 8 PM, and the gymnasium is open 24 hours.
In the room, the free WiFi provided has a speed of 29mbps. For mobile networks, CelcomDigi has a speed of 317mbps while Tune Talk has 252mbps. The hotel provides a lot of free TV channels in HD format. The water pressure in the bathroom is very strong, and this is one of the hotels where I really enjoy showering.
As a newly opened hotel, this hotel is very beautiful to me, but the price is quite expensive. The rooms are spacious and have very beautiful interiors, as does the view from the pool. Not only can visitors enjoy the beautiful scenery, they can also see airplanes landing because from the top of the building, Kota Kinabalu International Airport is clearly visible.
In terms of location, although this hotel is not right on the beachfront, the beach is still visible though quite far, unlike Marriott and Le Meridien. This hotel is right in front of the Centre Point building and only 600 meters to Anjung Kinabalu and Pasar Kraftangan (formerly known as Pasar Filipina). To the airport, it only takes 12 minutes by car.
As usual, I attach photos I took during my stay here. If readers want to read my reviews for other hotels, please go to my section in this group. To follow my staycation updates more closely, please follow me on Facebook. Thank you for reading 😘
