Share experiences to avoid being scammed by Uber drivers in France.
Hello everyone, today I went to the airport so I had quite a lot of luggage, 3 large suitcases + a cardboard box and 1 small suitcase.
I booked a car via Uber, since I had a lot of luggage I also messaged the driver in advance about this, asked if they would take it, if not then cancel the trip to find another driver. This step is both polite and protects you in case of disputes later, you message clearly and take a screenshot, best to wait for the message status to show Read / read / lu then take the screenshot.
Really not racist, but there are some driver profiles that just by looking my senses tingle up.
Sure enough, although they had read the message from the beginning but when they arrived and saw me with the pile of luggage, the driver started complaining, then demanded that I cancel the trip and find another one.
IN THIS CASE ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CANCEL THE TRIP, DEMAND THE DRIVER CANCEL THEMSELVES. Because if you cancel, since the driver has arrived Uber will still charge you to pay them.
Seeing they couldn't bully me, the driver ok loaded the stuff onto the car.
THEN DROVE ANOTHER 200M the car started creaking loudly, car overloaded can't carry, demanded I cancel the trip again then get out and call another car.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DO IT, If there's a problem the Uber driver must contact Uber customer service to cancel and send another car. If the driver cancels themselves and dumps you on the road then Uber will lock the driver's account immediately because it's an EXTREMELY SERIOUS VIOLATION. But if you cancel yourself, it's all your fault, you still lose money and have to call another car yourself.
Continued, I got tough demanded they drive me back home and call Uber customer service to send another car then they got scared and changed tone, said ok maybe I can carry it, but please give a little tip because carrying heavy.
I ok but said I don't have cash, later I'll tip via app. Then continued to the airport, no more trouble.
A little experience I share because I often use Uber to travel, lately Uber has the issue of account renting and using fake documents to drive so it's a bit messy, everyone be careful. If bullied by them just speak firmly threaten to call customer service and they back down immediately.
