Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu (13-14/1/2026)
From Hotel Marriott, I walked to the second hotel which is located only 600 meters away. This hotel is also located on Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens. According to an internet search, this hotel has been operating since September 2005, that is 20 years ago. It underwent a renovation process in 2019. For this hotel, I chose a Guest room, 1 King, City view type room which costs RM398 on the Marriott Bonvoy app.
I arrived around 12:55 PM and checked in directly. This hotel's lobby is quite spacious and beautiful but the lighting is somewhat dim. The check-in process was quick and I was given a sea view room. Since the room was already ready, I was immediately given the room access card on Level 8. The wait for the elevator was not long because there were not many guests at that time.
This Guest Room type is spacious with an area of 441 square feet. Upon entering the room, there is a bathroom on the right side of the entrance door. The bathroom is spacious, accommodating a sink, toilet, and shower area. There is a drain pipe next to the toilet bowl and the shower area is fully covered with frosted glass. There are two types of showers inside. The hotel provides complete bathing amenities.
The bed area is also spacious with one king bed and a fairly large sofa on the right side of the bed. Next to the window, that is in the right corner of the room, there is a work desk and a chair. On the left side of the bed, there is a cabinet that holds a place to hang clothes. In the middle is a rack for guests to place their items. In the far right section is the mini fridge along with utensils for making drinks. A 60-inch TV is mounted on the wall opposite the foot of the bed. This room type has a small window mirror facing the sea.
This hotel has a swimming pool located on Level 3. The swimming pool is quite large and there is a cafe next to the pool. It is open from 6 AM to 9 PM. On the same level, there is also a gymnasium.
In the room, the free WiFi provided has a speed of 122mbps. For telco, CelcomDigi has a speed of 476mbps while Tune Talk has 482mbps. The hotel provides a lot of free TV channels in HD format. The water pressure in the bathroom is not very strong and I did not like the type of shower used.
For breakfast, it was held temporarily in the ballroom because the restaurant was closed for renovation. Although the place was not very comfortable, it served very diverse and delicious food for me, especially the nasi lemak. For me, this is one of the hotels that provides very delicious nasi lemak for breakfast.
Even though it has been operating for more than 20 years, this hotel is maintained very well. It is so clean that I feel it was not opened 20 years ago. This hotel also has a very strategic location because it is located in front of Anjung Kinabalu and also Pasar Kraftangan (formerly known as Pasar Filipina). To Kota Kinabalu International Airport, it only takes about 15 minutes by car.
As usual, I attach the photos I took during my stay here. If readers want to read my reviews for other hotels, please go to my section in this group. If you want to know more closely about the progress of my staycation, please follow me on Facebook. Thank you for taking the time to read 😘
