3 Ways to Check Personal Tax Code to See If Exit Is Banned
To limit risks, everyone needs to take steps to check tax debt status. There are three ways and tools to do this.
Check on the Tax Department website
This is the way to help customers check if they are on the list subject to enforcement measures related to exit.
-
Access the Tax Department website at https://gdt.gov.vn/wps/portal, select Public Services - Public Disclosure of Tax Debt Enforcement.
-
Select the section Taxpayers with exit notifications.
-
Enter the required information (tax code, ID card/Resident ID...) and click Search.
-
Result: If no information, you are not on the public enforcement list at the time of checking. If there is information, handle tax obligations as guided.
Note: Data may be updated in batches, so check multiple times before the exit date.
Check by Personal Tax Code
This is the way to check if anyone is using your personal documents to register as a business representative, a common cause of unaware tax debts.
-
Access the website https://masothue.com
-
Enter: ID card (12 digits) or old ID card (9 digits) to check if you are listed as a representative for any business.
-
Verify the displayed information:
Case 1: Yes and it's your business, contact relevant departments in the business to recheck tax obligations.
Case 2: Yes but not your business, contact the business registration department (Department of Finance), Tax authority managing the business, Police agency at the business registration location to verify impersonation and get handling instructions.
Case 3: No information, check complete, no related issues.
Check on the eTax Mobile app
This is the fastest and most convenient way, suitable for most working individuals, business owners or those with tax obligations.
-
Log in to the eTax or eTax Mobile app with your personal account.
-
Select Tax Obligation Lookup.
-
Select Tax Obligation Information
-
Click Search to check: Outstanding tax amounts, late payment penalties (if any). If there are tax obligations, pay early to avoid enforcement measures.
After paying taxes, keep the receipt and check the system again after a few days to ensure data is updated.
To avoid being banned from exit, travelers should proactively check tax debts, at latest 7 days before departure. This time is enough to handle any risks. However, for long and expensive trips, prepare at least one month in advance, including tax review.
