Sunway Putra Hotel Family Staycation Review & Experience
Today I returned to Sunway Putra Hotel, the hotel I stay at most often during my staycations. Formerly known as The Legend Hotel, it is located on Jalan Putra, directly opposite the World Trade Centre (WTC) and Hotel Seri Pacific. This time, I booked a Deluxe room via the Trip.com app at a rate of RM288.24. The price included tax as well as breakfast for two.
Check-In Experience & Lobby
I arrived at the hotel at about 2:25 p.m. and headed straight to the lobby. The hotel lobby is located on Level 9, not on the ground floor like most hotels. The lobby is spacious and beautiful. The check-in process was very fast and, notably, the hotel does not require any deposit. Once I received my room key card, I went straight up to Level 23.
Room Upgrade: Family Room
Although I booked a Deluxe room, I was given a Family Room. Even though this is my ninth stay at this hotel, this was my first time getting this room type.
Room Layout & Furniture
The room is spacious, with one king bed and one single bed. There is a large wardrobe on the left side of the entrance, and it is very big. Next to the wardrobe is a cabinet housing a mini fridge and tea/coffee-making facilities. In this area, there is also a dining table with two chairs.
Along the wall facing the foot of the bed, there is a long desk. On the right side, there is a chair that can be used as a workspace for office tasks. A 50-inch TV is mounted on the wall facing the foot of the bed. The room I stayed in did not have a balcony.
Bathroom
The bathroom is quite large, with a sink, toilet, and shower area. There is a bidet hose next to the toilet, and in the shower area there are two types of shower heads. The shower area is enclosed with a fully transparent glass partition. The hotel provides complete toiletries.
Facilities: Pool, Gym & Parking
The swimming pool is located on Level 11 and it is quite large. Besides the adult pool, there is also a separate pool for children. On the same level, there is a gym.
The hotel provides parking, which is shared with the adjacent Sunway Putra Mall. The parking fee for hotel guests is RM13 per day.
Wi-Fi, Mobile Data & In-Room Amenities
The in-room Wi-Fi is very fast, reaching speeds of 271 Mbps for downloads and 199 Mbps for uploads. For mobile networks, CelcomDigi recorded speeds of 447 Mbps while Tune Talk reached 345 Mbps.
The hotel offers a good selection of TV channels, most of them in HD. Water pressure in the bathroom is strong.
Breakfast Experience
Breakfast is served at the restaurant on Level 9, next to the lobby. The hotel offers a variety of breakfast options, though I personally feel it is not as extensive as it used to be. As usual, I only tried a few items, including the nasi lemak, which I found very delicious.
Overall Review & Recommendations
As I have shared in my previous reviews, this hotel is very suitable for families. Although it has been operating for a long time, dating back to its days as The Legend Hotel, it is still very clean and well maintained. The price is quite affordable, usually around RM200 to RM250. Its location is strategic, right next to Sunway Putra Mall.
For those using public transport, the hotel is located next to the PWTC LRT Station.
