Waterfall and Garden Design at Long Thanh Airport Terminal
Location of the Indoor Waterfall and Garden
The standout feature of Long Thanh Airport's passenger terminal is the central skylight area, located right at the check-in zone. This is also where a multi-level open space (from the 3rd floor down to the 1st floor) is arranged, creating a dramatic vertical atrium.
Within this atrium, the design includes an artificial waterfall and an indoor garden. Natural light is diffused from above through the skylight, then gently spreads down over the waterfall and garden, bringing a soft, relaxing atmosphere to the entire space.
Purpose and Experience for Passengers
The waterfall is designed as a visual focal point so the terminal interior does not feel dull or monotonous. The indoor garden allows passengers to feel more connected to nature while waiting to board their flights, helping to reduce stress and make the waiting time more pleasant.
According to Mr. Bình, unlike many existing terminals where check-in counters and shops occupy most of the floor area, Long Thanh Airport's terminal will allocate a larger portion of its space to shared areas and greenery. This orientation aims to create a brighter, more open, and more human-centered terminal environment.
