Pre-Christmas Magic in Strasbourg & Colmar: My Cozy Getaway
Hey everyone, I'm excited to share some fresh snaps from two charming spots, Strasbourg and Colmar, right before the Christmas rush. I went super early, but shops and cafes were already decked out for the holiday season. The official Christmas markets kick off on November 26, though.
Why These Tiny Towns Steal Your Heart
These little cities look picture-perfect on camera. You can easily explore every cozy corner in just about a day. Locals and tourists are super friendly and welcoming. The food hits the spot perfectly, and a big shoutout to whoever recommended Machi Machi—their milk tea is delicious, folks!
I stayed at a hotel right by the train station, just a 5-10 minute walk to the city center. Going before the peak season kept prices nice and reasonable. Here's the scoop on my trip.
Day 1: Early Start in Strasbourg
We arrived around 7-8 AM, and the hotel let us drop our bags and check in two hours early—score! Grabbed breakfast at a bakery (it was too sweet for my taste, so I won't recommend it, though it has tons of reviews). Then we wandered to the cathedral to check out the stunning astronomical clock inside—€4 per person, totally worth it.
After sightseeing, we headed back to the hotel, checked in, and spent the whole afternoon strolling the city.
Day 2: Day Trip to Colmar & Night Vibes
From Strasbourg, we hopped on a train to Colmar for the day—only 30 minutes and €12-15 one way. That evening, we had time for a night walk in Strasbourg and stumbled upon that famous house decorated with stuffed animals, right by the right side of the main cathedral.
Snagged some chocolate from Jeff de Bruges, and before heading back, we hit Machi Machi for two milk teas to fuel up for the next day.
