First Images: ETS Train KL to Johor Bahru – Faster & Better!
The first images from Malaysia's new ETS (Electric Train Service) route connecting Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru are here, promising quicker, more convenient, and premium travel experiences!
Media Test Run Kicks Off Ahead of Official Launch
Malaysia held a media test run for the highly anticipated ETS line from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru on the morning of December 11, just before its official opening on December 12, 2025. This exciting project completes the 192 km electrified double-track Gemas-JB route, a long-awaited upgrade that's already generating buzz.
🚄 Cut Travel Time to Just ~4.5 Hours
The new ETS route slashes journey time from KL to JB to about 4.5 hours, compared to the 5-7 hours it takes by car or bus. With four daily services between KL Sentral and JB Sentral—departing at 7:45am and 5:35pm from KL, and 8:40am and 4:20pm from JB—it's perfect for commuters, tourists, and families.
Boost for Tourism and Connectivity
Leaders like Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Transport Minister Anthony Loke celebrated the launch, highlighting its role in enhancing transport links and supporting events like Visit Malaysia 2026. A 30% discount on tickets for the first 5,000 passengers ran from December 12 to January 11, and demand has been strong, especially with school holidays and cross-border traffic from Singapore.
