HCMC Metro Visa Payment Changes Start January 1, 2026

Ho Chi Minh City Metro Simplifies Visa Payments from 2026

Starting January 1, 2026, Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) is making Visa card payments for train rides even easier and more convenient. No more 6,000 VND initial deduction when tapping your card at the entry gate.

Key Changes for Visa Users

  • The system now tracks all your daily trips (entries and exits) and charges just once at the end of the day, cutting out those small per-trip fees.
  • This update makes riding the metro smoother and more hassle-free.

Other Handy Updates

Along with the Visa payment tweak, paper QR code tickets will no longer be sold at counters in stations like Ben Thanh, National University, and Suoi Tien Bus Station. Instead, grab tickets from vending machines, kiosks, bank cards, e-wallets, or the HCMC Metro HURC app.

Exciting Promotions

  • Free rides with Vikki cards (tap directly at gates) from December 16, 2025, through the end of 2026.
  • 100% cashback (up to 100,000 VND/month) on VPBank "Tap & Go" payments via the HCMC Metro HURC app, from December 17, 2025, to mid-March 2026.
  • Special free rides on New Year's Day 2026 with chip-enabled ID cards, "QR Vươn mình" codes, or kiosk QR tickets.

These changes make metro travel quicker, cheaper, and greener. Hop on board!
