Free Shanghai Layover Tour at Pudong Airport: My Experience
Our group recently enjoyed a free day trip at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) thanks to Trip.com's transit tour, and we're sharing our tips so you can make the most of it too.
Our Layover Setup
We landed at PVG around 11 PM and had our connecting flight at 5 PM the next day. To make things easy, we booked a small guesthouse near the airport and rested up for the morning adventure.
Finding and Choosing the Tour
Search Google for "trip free layover tour shanghai" to get all the details. There are three tour options: starting at 9 AM, 10 AM, and 6 PM.
We picked the 9 AM tour, which got us back to the airport just before 2 PM.
How to Join: First-Come, First-Served
No advance booking needed—just show up early! Each tour holds up to 10 people. We recommend arriving at least one hour ahead.
Our group of four lined up from 7:30 AM, and there was already one person ahead of us.
What We Did on the Tour
Our tour visited Yu Garden. Everything was included: entry tickets, an English-speaking guide who explained the history, took photos for us, and even led us to try delicious hairy crabs (pay for your own meal).
We were thrilled with the whole experience—totally hassle-free and fun!
Tips for Your PVG Layover
If you're transiting at PVG with over eight hours to spare and qualify for China's visa-free transit (like 72/144-hour policies), this is a great way to see Shanghai. Head to the Trip.com counter at Terminal 2 Departure Hall, Island A (near Gate 21).
