Sheraton Imperial KL Review: Spacious Rooms & Prime Location Near Kampung Baru

Review: Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur – A Classic Stay

This review covers a stay at the Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur from November 15th to 16th, 2025. This hotel is part of the Marriott collection and is conveniently located on Jalan Sultan Ismail, near Kampung Baru in Kuala Lumpur.

According to my research, this hotel first opened its doors in 1997. It underwent a significant renovation during the COVID-19 pandemic and officially reopened on December 1st, 2021. I have previously stayed here in December 2021 and again in March 2022.

For this visit, I opted for the 1 King Bed room type, booked via the Marriott Bonvoy app for RM470. This room spans a comfortable 452 square feet. I arrived at 2:30 PM and proceeded straight to the counter for check-in. The lobby is spacious and beautifully designed with a classic aesthetic. The check-in process was swift. Once I received my access card, I headed to the elevator area on the 19th floor. The hotel has five elevators, and waiting times were minimal.

Room Details and Layout

Although I chose the same room category as my March 2022 stay, the layout was different this time as my room was a corner unit. Upon entering, there was an open space near the entrance door. To the left, a cabinet housed the mini-fridge and beverage-making facilities. The sleeping area featured one king bed. At the right corner near the foot of the bed, there was a sizeable round table with two chairs. A 60-inch TV was mounted on the wall opposite the bed.

Further along, to the left of the bed's foot, was a small hallway containing the wardrobe for hanging clothes and storage. This area also held an iron, ironing board, and a safety deposit box. A pair of bathrobes were hung inside the closet. Adjacent to this hallway was the bathroom.

The Bathroom Experience

The bathroom was quite spacious, accommodating the sink, toilet, and shower area. There was a bidet spray next to the toilet bowl, and the shower area was enclosed by fully transparent glass. Inside the shower, there was a rather large bathtub. It only featured one type of shower fixture. The hotel provided a complete set of toiletries. My room offered a view overlooking Kampung Baru (and Quill City Mall).

Regarding connectivity, the complimentary WiFi speed reached 38mbps. Cellular service speeds were slower: Tune Talk clocked in at 195mbps, while CelcomDigi managed 107mbps. Water pressure in the bathroom was strong, though the water took a while to heat up. The hotel offers numerous free TV channels, most of which are in HD quality.

Facilities Overview

The swimming pool is situated on the 5th floor in an open-air area. The landscaping and arrangement of lounge chairs looked lovely, though they showed some age. The pool itself is quite large with a depth of 1.4 meters. There is no dedicated children's pool available. Pool operating hours are from 7 AM to 9 PM. Besides the pool, the hotel also features a 24-hour gymnasium, a spa, and a sauna.

Dining and Parking

Breakfast is served at the restaurant located on the 1st floor. The selection offered was extensive and varied. As usual, I only sampled a few items. In-room dining service is also available. For guests arriving by car, parking is available, but a fee of RM5 is charged.

Final Verdict and Location Perks

This hotel remains one of my top recommendations for visitors coming to Kuala Lumpur. Despite its long operational history, it is very well-maintained and exceptionally clean. Priced around RM400, the room size offers excellent value. In terms of location, it sits directly opposite Quill City Mall and is close to Kampung Baru. For public transport users, the hotel is ideally located just 100 meters from the Medan Tuanku Monorail Station and 650 meters from the Dang Wangi LRT Station.

As always, I've included photos taken during my stay. If you wish to read my reviews for other hotels, please visit my section within this group. To learn more about my staycations, follow me on Facebook. Thank you for reading!
