Phu Tho Racetrack Park Breaks Ground: A Nearly 100 Billion VND Urban "Green Diamond"
The city has officially started construction of a new park at the Phu Tho racetrack site with an investment of nearly 100 billion VND, designed as a "green diamond" that includes landmark structures and extensive recreation areas.
Project overview
The park covers 6.45 hectares and is funded by the city budget with a total investment close to 100 billion VND, with construction scheduled from 2025 to 2026.
Key design concept and areas
The park's masterplan is conceptually stylized on a diamond shape and divides the site into functional zones to create a modern urban green space.
- Green space and lawns: 3.6 hectares.
- Water features (lakes and landscape water surface): 0.8 hectares.
- Internal roads, plazas and paved areas: 1.2 hectares.
Main components and highlights
- Architectural and landscape highlights: prism (lăng kính) bridge, promenade bridge circling the lake, feature fountain and musical water stage.
- Public spaces: a central square and a multipurpose play court larger than 5,000 m².
- Recreation and sport: outdoor playgrounds and sports areas targeting youth and the community.
- Support facilities and systems: ancillary buildings (guardhouse, public restrooms, service/technical areas), parking, and integrated technical systems such as drainage, wastewater treatment, lighting, automatic irrigation, CCTV and public Wi‑Fi.
Location and context
The park is located within the Phu Tho racetrack precinct, adjacent to three main axes—Le Dai Hanh Street and two projected internal streets—forming a new public green landmark aimed at improving urban livability and increasing green cover for the district.
Purpose and expected benefits
- Provide public green space and recreation for residents, especially youth.
- Enhance the urban landscape and create a visual landmark in the Phu Tho racetrack area.
- Improve microclimate and contribute to urban cooling and better quality of life.
Construction timing
The project was approved in mid-2025 and construction commenced with an expected delivery within the 2025–2026 period.
