Zalo SOS Map: Rapid Emergency Relief & Disaster Support

Zalo SOS Adds Real-Time Map for Faster Disaster Relief

Amidst escalating flood situations, Zalo has swiftly upgraded its SOS feature by integrating a "Map" function. This crucial addition aims to enable functional forces and the community to provide assistance precisely according to the actual location of those needing help, ensuring timely support reaches affected individuals.

Rapid 24-Hour Deployment of "Zalo SOS Map"

Beyond allowing those in distress to inform friends and family via the Zalo Feed, the newly launched "Zalo SOS Map" displays the real-time location and status of people urgently requiring assistance directly on a map. This allows rescue forces and the surrounding community to easily identify support hotspots and allocate personnel effectively.

This feature was urgently developed by Zalo within a mere 24-hour timeframe.

The "Zalo SOS Map" incorporates several vital functions:

  • Displaying Coordinates and Information of Those Needing Help: When a citizen sends a distress signal via Zalo SOS, location details and specific needs are uploaded to the map for relevant parties to monitor.
  • Color-Coded Status Classification: Red indicates cases requiring urgent rescue, while green signifies that assistance has been successfully provided. This classification helps authorities and volunteers allocate resources optimally to support those in difficulty.
  • Filtering by Locality: Functional forces can filter and view rescue requests specific to different areas, improving the coordination of on-site rescue teams.
  • Post-Rescue Status Update: Once a rescuer confirms successful aid delivery, the status on the map switches from red to green, signaling to the overall relief effort which cases have been addressed.

How to Update Information on the Zalo SOS Rescue Map

Currently, the Zalo SOS feature is automatically activated in localities affected by natural disasters. Endangered citizens can follow these steps to ensure their information appears on the "Zalo SOS Map," facilitating quick access by functional forces and the community:

  1. Share Status on Zalo SOS: Necessary information includes location, current condition, and the specific rescue/assistance request.
  2. SOS Information Upload: The SOS information is automatically sent to the "Zalo SOS Map" and displayed as a red dot at the corresponding location, complete with detailed coordinate information.
  3. Identification and Filtering: Functional forces and the surrounding community can identify the reported point and use filters to locate the nearest victims.
  4. Marking Completion: After rescue operations are complete, rescue teams press the "Mark as Assisted" button to update the case status on the map; the red dot will turn green, indicating the mission has been processed.

With the addition of the map to Zalo SOS, Zalo hopes to help the community and users find timely support during critical disaster moments.

Alongside the Zalo SOS feature, Zalo has actively collaborated with local authorities and the Directorate of Water Resources Management and Disaster Prevention (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) for many years in pre-, during-, and post-disaster warning systems. This collaboration also focuses on disseminating knowledge about different types of disasters and prevention methods to minimize damage. Annually, Zalo sends hundreds of millions of emergency disaster messages to its users.
