BRIX KLIA Sepang: A Comfortable Transit Hotel Near Kuala Lumpur Airport

Review: BRIX KLIA by Pinetree - A Convenient Sepang Stay

My journey took me from Kuala Lumpur to the Sepang district in Selangor for another hotel visit, a place I had actually stayed at back in January. This hotel, BRIX KLIA by Pinetree, is strategically located right at the Kota Warisan junction leading to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

I booked directly through the hotel's website, opting for the same room type as before: the Loft. The room cost me RM189, which notably excluded taxes and breakfast. I arrived around 1:00 PM and proceeded straight to the ground floor lobby counter. The lobby is quite spacious, housing not only the reception but also a restaurant and a convenience store. Check-in was swift; since my room was ready, I immediately received my access card. This time, my unit was also on the 1st floor, just a different location.

The Loft Room Experience

The Loft room category is compact, yet it feels somewhat spacious due to its open layout. Measuring 172 square feet, it efficiently accommodates a queen bed, a small workspace, and a cabinet. This cabinet houses the mini-fridge, safety deposit box, and beverage-making facilities. To the left of the bed, above this cabinet, there's a metal rail for hanging clothes. The desk faces the foot of the bed and is quite small. Next to the desk, an iron and ironing board are conveniently mounted on the wall. A 50-inch television is mounted above the workspace.

Bathroom Facilities

The bathroom is small, containing a sink, toilet, and a shower area. A plumbing fixture is situated beside the toilet bowl. The shower area is separated only by a curtain. Importantly, the hotel does not provide toiletries, only bath towels and face towels.

Connectivity and Amenities

The hotel offers free, fast Wi-Fi, clocking speeds up to 121mbps, although stability was sometimes an issue. For mobile networks, Tune Talk performed exceptionally well at 377mbps, while CelcomDigi offered 320mbps. TV channels are limited to basic offerings, though they are broadcast in HD. The water pressure wasn't very strong, and I wasn't particularly fond of the showerhead type used.

Other facilities are located on the M Floor, which includes:

  • A mini gymnasium
  • A game room
  • A shared cooking area for guests
  • A prayer room (Surau)

Final Verdict

In my opinion, the hotel is somewhat pricey, but it is undeniably clean and comfortable. For travelers who prioritize proximity to KLIA (only about 10km to both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2), this hotel serves as an excellent transit option. Guests also have easy access to shopping at Mitsui Outlet Park, which is just 5km away. For those relying on public transport, the ERL Salak Tinggi Station is conveniently located about 4.5km from the hotel.
