A Quick Take on Guangzhou Baiyun Security and Spring Airlines Check-in
Sharing a few insights from my recent trip from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport to Singapore, focusing on the security experience and a Spring Airlines check-in.
Baggage Shenanigans
Checking in my luggage was a bit of an adventure. I had two 24-inch suitcases and one standard 20-inch bag. I assumed the 20-inch would be fine as carry-on, but Spring Airlines insisted it be checked. This resulted in an extra checked bag, but thankfully, I didn't have to pay any additional fees. What's interesting is that my large 25-liter backpack, slung over my shoulder, was completely ignored by the staff. They didn't even glance at it or ask to weigh it, even for two people!
Security Scrutiny
The security process itself was thorough. After an initial check asking about my two power banks, I was sent back for a full rescan. Pat-downs were a given, and I had to remove my shoes for a scanner to be run from my feet upwards.
Terminal Tip
A small but crucial note: pay attention to Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. It's easy to assume it works like in Vietnam, where T1 is domestic and T2 is international. My husband and I mistakenly headed to T2, only to be told we needed to go back to T1 because Spring Airlines operates from there. The airport is quite large, so we had to take the metro back, which was a bit of a detour.
