A Refreshing Stay at Sama Sama Hotel KLIA: A Traveler's Perspective
My recent visit to the Sama Sama Hotel KLIA from June 21st to 22nd, 2025, marked another delightful experience at a hotel that has become a personal favorite. Formerly known as Pan Pacific KLIA, this establishment's proximity to Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 is undeniably convenient. My first encounter with Sama Sama Hotel was in April 2023, and since then, its beautiful ambiance and tranquil atmosphere have consistently drawn me back. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the culinary offerings at this hotel are truly exceptional, making it a standout choice for a peaceful retreat.
Deluxe Room Experience and Value
Given the hotel's premium pricing, I typically opt for the Deluxe room, which is their most compact and economical option. The standard rate for a Deluxe room hovers between RM500 and RM600 per night. However, I've often leveraged my MAG staff rate, which significantly reduces the cost to approximately RM280 before the 8% tax is applied. It's important to note that this rate usually excludes breakfast, which is an additional RM70 per person before tax.
Seamless Check-in and Room Amenities
Arriving around 12:30 PM, I headed straight to the check-in counter located in the grand and beautifully designed lobby. The lobby also houses a restaurant on the same level. The check-in process was remarkably swift, taking only a few minutes. As my room was ready, I was promptly handed my access card and proceeded to the 7th floor via one of the five elevators. Waiting times for the elevators were consistently short, adding to the overall smooth experience.
The Deluxe room, spanning a generous 387 square feet, boasts thoughtful design elements. Upon entering, a large wardrobe greeted me on the left. Inside, I found ample hanging space, a safety deposit box, and even a weighing scale. Two bathrobes were also neatly hung. To the side of the wardrobe, a discreetly placed ironing board and iron were available. To the right of the wardrobe, a mini-fridge was situated, topped with amenities for preparing hot beverages.
The sleeping area featured a king-sized bed, accompanied by a comfortable armchair and a small round table on the right side. A spacious work desk and an ergonomic chair were positioned in the corner at the foot of the bed, perfect for any business needs. The television, approximately 45 inches, was wall-mounted opposite the bed. This particular stay offered a captivating view of the Air Traffic Control Tower, allowing me to watch planes take off from both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
Bathroom Facilities
The bathroom door, located to the left of the bed, opened into a spacious area that included a sink, toilet, shower enclosure, and a bathtub. A bidet hose was conveniently placed next to the toilet. The shower featured a handheld showerhead. While the bathtub was generously sized, it was an older model. As expected from a 5-star establishment, the hotel provided a comprehensive range of toiletries.
Hotel Facilities and Relaxation
The hotel boasts a lovely outdoor swimming pool on the 1st floor, which is quite expansive and set amidst attractive landscaping. Complementing the pool are a gymnasium, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi, offering a variety of options for relaxation and rejuvenation. The pool is open from 8 AM to 8 PM. A poolside cafe is available for guests to enjoy food and drinks while unwinding.
Connectivity and Dining Experiences
I tested the in-room Wi-Fi speed, and unfortunately, it wasn't as impressive as on previous visits, registering around 10mbps this time, a stark contrast to the 246mbps recorded last year. However, mobile network speeds were excellent, with CelcomDigi reaching 249mbps and Tune Talk at 194mbps. The hotel offers a wide selection of TV channels, though not in HD. Water pressure in the bathroom was strong, but I personally prefer a rain shower over the handheld one. For lunch, I indulged in Nasi Lemak (RM45), Char Koay Teow (RM45), and Durian Ice Cream Cendol (RM28). The food here is consistently delicious, and the cendol, in particular, is a must-try that I reorder on every visit.
Conclusion: A Highly Recommended Retreat
As I've mentioned in previous reviews, Sama Sama Hotel KLIA remains a top choice for me due to its spacious and beautifully appointed rooms, coupled with a serene atmosphere perfect for unwinding. For those who don't mind the price point, it's an ideal destination for a family getaway. The hotel delivers on its 5-star promise with excellent facilities and a generally uncrowded environment. Many guests use it as a transit point before flights, spending most of their time relaxing in their rooms. The mattresses and pillows are exceptionally comfortable. Parking is available for RM10. For those utilizing public transport, the hotel's adjacency to KLIA Terminal 1 is a major advantage; a quick ERL ride to Terminal 1 is followed by a convenient hotel buggy transfer.
