Review: Birkin International Hotel Melaka (August 2025 Stay)
This week, I visited Melaka and chose to stay at two different hotels. The first one I'm reviewing here just began operations last February. Located in Klebang Beach area, it features two buildings, one of which is residential. My online research suggests this hotel is owned by a Taiwanese company. I booked directly with the hotel after purchasing a voucher worth RM400 during the MATTA Fair last April. This voucher entitled me to a Deluxe Suite room with breakfast for two.
I arrived at the hotel around 12:25 PM and proceeded straight to the lobby on the ground floor. The lobby is spacious and very beautiful. Besides the reception counter, there is also a restaurant located within the lobby area. I immediately proceeded with the check-in process; fortunately, no security deposit was required. I was lucky enough to receive a free upgrade to a Deluxe Premier Suite on a higher floor. The check-in process took only a few minutes, thanks to the attending staff member, Mr. Fairus Azua.
Accessing the High-Floor Room
Once I received my room access card, I took the lift up to my room on the 33rd floor. There are five lifts in the hotel, and since the occupancy wasn't high, the waiting time was minimal. Guests should be cautious, as each lift only serves specific floors.
Room Features and Layout
The Deluxe Premier Suite I stayed in measured 592 square feet, significantly larger than the standard 505 sq ft Deluxe Suite. Upon entering, there was a wash basin area to the left of the main door. This area also housed amenities for making hot beverages, a coffee machine, and a mini-fridge. Next to this cabinet was a large wardrobe. Inside the wardrobe, besides hanging space, there was a safety deposit box and an iron. However, an ironing board was not provided in the room.
In the sleeping area, besides the king-sized bed, there was a large sofa on the right side, with a coffee table placed in front of it. Opposite the foot of the bed was a cabinet for guests to place their belongings. Next to this cabinet was a small work desk with a chair suitable for light office work. The television, which appeared to be a large 70 or 75-inch screen, was mounted on the wall opposite the bed. All rooms in this hotel feature a balcony; mine offered a view facing the sea and Klebang Beach.
Bathroom Amenities
The bathroom is located to the right of the entrance and is quite spacious. It contains a sink, a toilet, and a shower area. The shower area also accommodates a moderately sized bathtub. The shower enclosure is separated by completely transparent glass panels. The hotel provides only one type of showerhead and does not feature a bidet spray; instead, it uses a small spray nozzle attached to the toilet bowl.
As a five-star establishment, the hotel provides a complete set of toiletries. The bath towels provided were notably large.
Facilities Overview
The hotel is well-equipped with all the facilities expected of a 5-star hotel. One feature I particularly loved was the beautiful landscaping. There is an expansive children's playground on the 7th floor. The swimming pool is located on the same level and is an infinity pool overlooking the sea. The pool area is large, featuring both an adult pool and a dedicated children's pool. Pool operating hours are from 7 AM to 8 PM. Also on the 7th floor are a gymnasium and a games room, open from 7 AM to 10 PM. There is also a large Kids Club operating from 9 AM to 9 PM. Additionally, a spa facility is available on the 7th floor.
Dining and Connectivity
Breakfast is served at the restaurant located in the lobby. While the food selection was not extensive, I found it adequate, and the items I sampled were tasty. In-room dining service is available, though prices are quite steep—for instance, Curry Laksa was priced at RM50, and Nasi Lemak with spiced fried chicken was also RM50.
In terms of connectivity, the complimentary in-room WiFi speed was 29mbps. For mobile telcos, CelcomDigi offered 296mbps, while Tune Talk provided 244mbps. All television channels were broadcast in HD, and the hotel offers numerous free channels. Water pressure in the bathroom was somewhat weak, possibly due to the room being on a high floor. For those driving, the hotel provides complimentary parking.
Final Verdict
I believe this hotel is highly suitable for families looking to relax and unwind, especially those travelling with children, given its spacious rooms and excellent facilities for kids. Its location is excellent, being only about 500 meters from Klebang Beach, which becomes lively in the evenings.
While the price point is somewhat high, considering the room size and the facilities offered, it provides good value for money. To reach Melaka City center, driving is necessary as it is about 10 km away.
I took many pictures because the hotel is truly beautiful. If readers wish to see my reviews of other hotels, please check my posts in this group. For a more detailed account of my staycation experience, please follow me on Facebook. Thank you for reading!
