Bali Bliss: A 10-Day Island Itinerary from Ubud to Nusa Dua

My Unforgettable 10-Day Bali Adventure: From Lush Jungles to Pristine Beaches

Last July, I embarked on a fantastic 10-day journey through Bali, a trip that took me from the emerald embrace of Ubud's rainforests to the cool highlands of Bedugul, then to the serene shores of Lovina with its playful dolphins, and finally, to the unforgettable beach paradises of Jimbaran, Nusa Dua, and Melasti.

First Impressions: Bali's Warm Welcome

From the moment I stepped off the plane, I was enveloped by the genuine warmth and friendliness of the Balinese people. Everyone I encountered was gentle, kind, and incredibly welcoming, making the island instantly lovable.

My 10-Day Itinerary: A Taste of Bali's Diversity

Days 1-2: The Verdant Charms of Ubud & Bedugul

Ubud was the perfect starting point for our adventure. We explored breathtaking rice terraces and indulged in the island's famous Balinese grilled pork ribs. A little insider tip: it's a great place to exchange money for better rates.

Bedugul offered a refreshing change of pace with its cooler climate. We enjoyed picking fresh strawberries, visiting serene lakes, wandering through botanical gardens, and browsing the local market. It felt like a wonderful escape from the coastal heat.

Days 3-5: Tranquil Lovina & Dolphin Encounters

Waking up early for a traditional boat trip to watch dolphins in Lovina was undoubtedly the highlight of the entire trip. The sea was calm, the sky was clear, and seeing the dolphins leap and play was an experience I'll cherish forever. The food in Lovina was also incredibly affordable.

From Lovina, we made our way to Legian to relax before diving into the exploration of Bali's southern coastline.

Days 6-9: Southern Shores Beckon: Jimbaran, Melasti & Nusa Dua

Our final days were dedicated to pure beach bliss. We soaked up the sun at Melasti, Pandawa, Geger, Mengiat, and Gunung Payung beaches. Each one boasted crystal-clear waters and immaculate sands, though a small entrance fee applied to most.

Evenings were spent indulging in fresh seafood right on Jimbaran Beach, the epitome of Balinese chill.

Seamless Travel: My Recommended Driver, Kadek Maya

For our transportation needs, we opted for a private car service throughout our trip, arranged through a fantastic contact named Kadek Maya. You can connect with Kadek via his Facebook page (search for Kadek Maya on Facebook, link available upon request if needed). The car was spacious, spotless, and drove smoothly, with a driver who was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Kadek provided invaluable support, from crafting a flexible itinerary to recommending delicious local eateries and scenic photo spots. I highly recommend Kadek for anyone looking to explore extensively without the stress of navigation!

Balinese Cuisine: Delicious Beyond Expectations

Balinese grilled pork ribs were an absolute revelation! Coupled with the rich, creamy grilled corn and surprisingly good Western dishes like pizza, our culinary journey was a delight.

The prices were reasonable, the flavors were spot-on, and the ingredients were fresh. Every meal felt like a happy discovery.

Accommodation Choices: Variety and Value

We experienced a range of accommodations, from charming villas in Ubud and mountain lodges in Bedugul to lovely beachfront hotels. A smart tip: booking closer to your travel date can often yield better prices, especially if you're not traveling during peak season, offering flexibility and significant savings.
