A Serene Escape to Mangala Estate Boutique Resort
Discovering a Hidden Gem in Gambang, Kuantan
From Teluk Cempedak, my journey continued to my second resort destination, nestled in Gambang, also within Kuantan, Pahang. This enchanting retreat, which opened its doors in 2016, is beautifully situated amidst an oil palm plantation, bordering a tranquil lake. My booking was made directly, as I had secured a valuable voucher during the MATTA Fair back in March. This voucher, valued at RM999, was for a luxurious villa named Vila Amani. The resort's convenient location near the Gambang exit of the East Coast Expressway makes it easily accessible. It's worth noting that in 2018, the resort achieved a significant accolade, winning World Gold in Environmental Rehabilitation/Conservation at the FIABCI Prix d'Excellence Awards held in Dubai, a testament to their commitment to nature.
A Smooth Arrival and Warm Welcome
I arrived at the resort at 1:45 PM and proceeded straight to the lobby. From the moment I stepped inside, the resort's peaceful ambiance enveloped me. The staff greeted me warmly, their friendliness immediately setting a relaxed tone. As my voucher required a deposit of RM500, the resort requested the remaining balance of RM499, plus a RM3 tourism tax imposed by the Pahang State Government. The check-in process was remarkably seamless. After a brief overview of the resort's amenities, I was whisked away via buggy to my villa, which was a short distance from the main lobby.
Vila Amani: Spacious Luxury with a Private Pool
Vila Amani, my home for this stay, boasts an impressive 645 square feet of living space and comes complete with its own private swimming pool. The villa is generously proportioned and thoughtfully divided into three distinct areas. Upon entering, you find yourself in the sleeping area, which features a grand super king-sized bed. To the right of the bed, a well-appointed wardrobe awaits for hanging clothes, alongside shelves for your belongings. Here, you'll also find a safety deposit box, an iron, and an ironing board. Opposite the bed, a substantial desk provides a comfortable workspace.
To the left of the bed, a cozy living space unfolds, furnished with a spacious sofa and a comfortable armchair. A chic, round coffee table complements this area. Across from the sofa stands a long cabinet, crowned by a 55-inch television. To the right of the TV is a shelf for placing items, while to the left, a mini-fridge and a coffee-making station are conveniently located, complete with brewing essentials.
An Expansive Ensuite Bathroom
Between the work desk and the TV cabinet, a sliding door leads to the bathroom. This sanctuary is incredibly spacious, featuring twin sinks positioned centrally. To the right, a separate toilet area is available, while to the left, the bathing area is equipped with both a shower and a bathtub. The bathroom design is open-plan, and the bathtub itself is impressively large. Next to the toilet bowl, a convenient pipe holder is present. The shower area offers two distinct showerhead options. The resort thoughtfully provides a full range of premium toiletries, including branded shower gel and shampoo.
Private Pool Serenity and Natural Ambiance
Vila Amani is one of the villas at the resort privileged to have its own private swimming pool. It's a good size, offering picturesque views of the surrounding forest. Interestingly, Vila Amani is essentially two semi-detached villas joined together, with a dividing wall ensuring privacy between the units. Outdoor seating, including chairs and a small round table, invites guests to relax and unwind by the poolside. The resort utilizes salt instead of chlorine for pool maintenance, resulting in a slightly saline water quality.
Connectivity, Entertainment, and Refreshments
Inside the room, the complimentary Wi-Fi impressed with speeds of 38mbps. For mobile connectivity, Tune Talk offered a remarkable 129mbps, while CelcomDigi provided a strong 106mbps. The resort features large televisions in the rooms, though the number of accessible channels was limited during my stay. I did mention this to the staff upon check-out, and they informed me that improvements to the TV channels were in progress. Regarding water pressure in the bathroom, it was somewhat gentle, particularly with the ceiling showerhead, and the water temperature was not as hot as I would have preferred.
Main Pool, Jacuzzi, and Dining Delights
The resort also boasts a magnificent main swimming pool, located adjacent to the restaurant. It's quite large and beautifully designed, overlooking the serene lake. A relaxing jacuzzi is situated right beside the main pool. Additionally, a well-equipped gymnasium is available nearby, also close to the restaurant. I enjoyed a delightful lunch at the restaurant, savoring their nasi goreng priced at RM58 and a refreshing pineapple juice for RM18. Breakfast the following morning was also at the same restaurant. While the selection of food wasn't extensive, I found everything to be exceptionally tasty. For my check-out, I requested an extension until 2 PM.
An Ideal Retreat for Relaxation and Romance
This resort is truly a stunning destination, perfect for those seeking to unwind and rejuvenate their minds, or for couples looking for a romantic honeymoon escape. The villas are exceptionally spacious, immaculately clean, and wonderfully comfortable. The resort offers various activities, including kayaking and cycling, to enhance your stay. The dining experience was excellent, with delicious food, though it is priced at a premium. With 67 villas available, there are plenty of options for visitors. Personally, I found the resort's tranquil and comfortable atmosphere, coupled with the incredibly friendly staff, to create a truly exclusive experience. One minor consideration is the location; it is a bit remote from shops, so a car is necessary if you wish to purchase essentials or dine outside the resort.
