Wuhan Wonders: A Family Adventure Through Optics Valley and Beyond
The suspended monorail in Wuhan's Optics Valley is much like any other, but my child's delight in pressing their face against the train and crawling on the glass floor made it a truly special experience. Wuhan itself is brimming with captivating sights.
Our home base was conveniently located near the Yellow Crane Tower and the vibrant Hubu Alley food street. Since children reciting a poem about the Yellow Crane Tower are granted free entry, my child was eager to try their luck. Our primary reason for visiting Wuhan was, of course, the cherry blossoms, so we spent an entire day immersed in the beauty of East Lake Park. We also explored the Huanan Seafood Market, a place that holds a significant place in recent human history, and visited the ancient Guqin Terrace, steeped in the legend of Bo Ya and Yu Boya.
Beyond Wuhan, there are numerous other destinations, and travel between them is remarkably convenient. We journeyed for over three weeks, exploring both Hubei and Hunan provinces. Within Hubei alone, we visited Chibi, Xiangyang, Wudang, Yichang, and Jingzhou. Yichang, in particular, captured my heart as my favorite city in China; it was exceptionally clean, with delicious and affordable food. I also heard many Chinese friends praise the beauty of Enshi, but unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to include it in our itinerary.
