The Origins of Starlux

From Mechanic to Chairman: The Rise of Chang Kuo-wei
Chang Yung-Fa had five children. While his elder children largely focused on business aspects, CKW immersed himself in the technical side. He started at EVA Airways as a mechanic, worked his way up to becoming a pilot, and eventually, after mastering every aspect of the airline, became its chairman.
A Disputed Inheritance and a New Vision
In 2016, Chang Yung-Fa's will designated CKW as the heir to both EVA Airways and the Evergreen Group. However, the other children contested the will, alleging their father was not of sound mind when he wrote it. They successfully challenged CKW's position through a board vote, removing him from the chairmanship of EVA.
The Birth of Starlux
Undeterred, CKW announced the creation of a new airline: Starlux. His vision was to create a premium airline, believing that the two major Taiwanese carriers, EVA and China Airlines, had become complacent and focused primarily on budget travelers. Drawing on his extensive experience at EVA, CKW swiftly established Starlux, and the airline officially took to the skies in 2020.
A Premium Experience
The Starlux experience is notably different from that of EVA or China Airlines. The aircraft interiors boast an elegant design, with beautiful color palettes for the seats and carpets.
