Chongqing Photo Guide: Unveiling the City's Most Stunning Spots
I recently flew to Chongqing specifically for this photo series, eager to capture its unique blend of historic architecture and modern cityscapes. Chongqing truly makes it easy to snap gorgeous pictures! Here's my curated guide to the city's best photo opportunities, guaranteed to impress your social media followers.
Iconic Chongqing Views
1. Chongqing's Circle
Location: Opposite Huguishi Bus Station
Frame the bustling, modern Raffles City through this circular sculpture for a striking urban shot.
2. Longmenhao "I am Chongqing"
Location: Navigate to "Guanjiang Lanyue" (View the River, Embrace the Moon)
Pose with the iconic giant lettering and the Yangtze River Bridge for that quintessential Chongqing vibe.
3. Longmenhao "Mountain City Frame"
Location: Navigate to "Jixia Mountain Hotel"
This spot offers a romantic, minimalist frame. Position yourself lower down, centered within the frame, for the most beautiful composition.
4. Xia Hao Li "This is Chongqing"
Location: Turn left 50 meters from Shangxin Street Metro Exit 1
This red brick wall with white lettering is a real showstopper. Opt for solid-colored clothing to make your photos pop.
5. & 6. Raffles City Cloud Paradise
Location: Chongqing Raffles City
Enjoy panoramic city views, the sunset, and a gentle breeze at this must-visit Chongqing landmark. For the best experience, I recommend riding the roller coaster or the skywalk during the day. In the evening, capture the magic of the city lighting up with a stroll along the Cloud Walk and a visit to the Mirror of the Sky.
7. Xia Hao Li Panoramic View
Location: Navigate to "Haoyue Bookstore"
The "blue hour" just before sunset when the lights begin to glow is truly breathtaking here.
8. Baixiangju "Yangtze River Cableway"
Location: Next to the stairwell of Building 4, Baixiangju
The classic spot for the cable car going through buildings is now closed. Instead, head to Building 4 for this excellent alternative view, offering a wider, more open perspective perfect for portraits.
9. & 10. Chongqing Eye Sparking Sky
Location: Changjiahui Danshizi Street, 6th Floor
Marvel at the confluence of two rivers and the stunning night view of Raffles City across the water. The city's myriad lights create an unforgettable atmosphere.
11. Luohan Temple
Location: Directly accessible from Xiaoshizi Metro Exit 6
Discover this thousand-year-old temple nestled amongst towering skyscrapers. The layered architecture embodies a distinct Eastern aesthetic.
14. Liziba Light Rail Through Buildings
Location: Liziba Station, Exit 1
With trains passing approximately every two minutes, a low-angle, wide-angle shot here delivers a truly spectacular effect.
Culinary Delights
I indulged in the local favorite, Yu Tang Pang Ma Old Hot Pot, recommended by residents. The freshly sliced beef and signature braised pork were absolutely delicious. At Raffles City, I also tried the popular Madeleine, a perfect accompaniment to my Chongqing adventure. I picked up a popular Napoleon pastry, which was wonderfully refreshing with fresh berries.
Accommodation
Eager to experience the city's famous 8D night views, I chose the Qianhe Rishan High-Rise River View Hotel. The 270-degree panorama was incredible, and being located right below Jiefangbei made exploring the sights incredibly convenient.
