An Istanbul Layover: Exploring Taksim Square Solo and Feeling Safe

Istanbul Layover: A Stroll Through Taksim's Charm

Navigating the City as a Solo Female Traveler

An unexpected Istanbul layover presented a wonderful opportunity to step out and explore this vibrant city. With my luggage checked through, I was eager to experience Istanbul, though a slight concern lingered: is Turkey safe for a solo female traveler? Landing at 10:30 PM and clearing customs well after eleven, my initial thoughts leaned towards staying put. However, after researching safety measures, I confidently opted for the Havaist bus to a hotel in the Taksim area. This decision proved to be an excellent one, allowing for a morning of city exploration and a convenient return to the airport.

Istanbul's beauty truly lies in its architecture, and its unique position straddling two continents, divided by the Bosphorus Strait, is captivating. Visiting in April offered a refreshing cool climate, with the possibility of rain. Fortunately, my day was blessed with clear skies and perfect weather. The city has certainly left a lasting impression, and I'm already considering a dedicated trip to Turkey, especially with the ease of the visa-free entry for Thai citizens. The people here are wonderfully welcoming.

Practical Tips for Layover Travelers

For layover travelers like myself, managing expenses was straightforward. I found it convenient to utilize establishments that accepted credit cards, eliminating any need to worry about currency exchange.
