Hilton Garden Inn Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman North, KL: A Review

Just spent a night at the Hilton Garden Inn Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman North in Kuala Lumpur! Here's my honest take on the experience:

The Essentials

  • Check-in: June 1, 2025 (1 night)
  • Check-out: June 2, 2025
  • Room: Queen Room (29m²)
  • Price: RM222.35 nett (inclusive of breakfast for 2)
  • Booked via: Trip.com

Parking: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Parking can be a bit tricky. You'll need to drop your luggage off in front of the hotel and then hand over your car for valet parking. It costs RM16 per day, payable at the reception desk. Be prepared for a possible wait during peak times.

Check-in Experience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The lobby, though compact, is neat and well-maintained. There's a cafe to the left, where hotel guests enjoy breakfast. To the right, you'll find "The Garden," a waiting area with a long bench and potted plants, creating a refreshing atmosphere. Across from the waiting area is a workspace with two computers and a green, nature-themed wallpaper. A few steps at the back of the lobby lead to the elevators, with a wheelchair lift available. Despite its size, the hotel even has a gym near the elevators. Two elevators are available, with mirrored walls making them seem larger. You'll also notice decorative KLCC motifs in the hallway connecting the elevators and the cafe.

The Room: ⭐⭐⭐

The room is moderately sized and ideal for two guests. It has a queen-sized bed and a long platform bench by the window. The room was very clean. There's no balcony, but the view of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Chow Kit brought back nostalgic memories of growing up in KL. The room is equipped with an electric kettle, tea, mugs, and a mini-fridge. Basic TV channels are available, but no Netflix.

Bathroom: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The bathroom, though small, feels spacious thanks to the white and black wall tiles. Shower gel, shampoo, lotion, and handwash are provided in wall-mounted bottles, adding a touch of luxury. There's a water pipe next to the toilet; a bidet is not available.

Breakfast: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

For a smaller hotel, I was pleased with the variety of food offered at breakfast. The cafe environment was conducive and clean. An additional breakfast costs RM35 per adult.

Pool: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The pool is located at the Hilton Garden Inn South (two blocks away from the North Wing) on the rooftop. There is no kids pool. There's also a rooftop cafe at the South Wing with stunning views of Metropolitan KL, including KLCC, KL Tower, Merdeka 118, and Kampung Baru.

Check-out: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Check-out was incredibly easy thanks to the express check-out box. Just drop your access card in the box, and you're done!

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I'd give it an overall rating of 3.5 stars. It's a good option for a short staycation in the heart of KL at a reasonable price. It's close to Kampung Baru, making it easy to enjoy local cuisine. Consider this hotel for overnight stays if you plan to shop in KL or have business in the city center. Taking a Grab ride is convenient if you want to avoid parking hassles. The rooftop cafe with KL landmarks in the background is a great spot for birthday or anniversary celebrations in the evening.
