Hilton Garden Inn Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman North, KL: A Quick Getaway Review

Our Stay: A Night in the Heart of Kuala Lumpur

We recently spent a night at the Hilton Garden Inn Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman North in Kuala Lumpur, checking in on June 1, 2025, and departing on June 2, 2025. We booked a Queen Room (29m²) through Trip.com for RM222.35 nett, which included breakfast for two. Here's a breakdown of our experience:

Parking: Three Stars

Parking presented a small challenge. You need to drop off your luggage in front of the hotel and then arrange valet parking. The cost is RM16 per day, payable at the reception desk. Be prepared for a wait during peak times.

Check-in: Four Stars

The lobby is compact but well-maintained and clean. A cafe is conveniently located to the left, serving breakfast. To the right, "The Garden," a waiting area with a long bench, features real potted plants, creating a fresh and inviting atmosphere. Opposite the waiting area, you'll find a workspace with two computers and nature-themed wallpaper. Steps at the back of the lobby lead to the elevators. An elevator machine provides accessibility for guests with wheelchairs, compensating for the lack of a ramp. Despite the hotel's size, a gym is available near the stairs leading to the elevators. Two elevators, equipped with mirrored walls to enhance the sense of space, serve the floors. A KLCC-themed wall decoration adorns the hallway connecting the elevators and the cafe.

The Room: Three Stars

The room was a comfortable size for two people, featuring a queen bed and a long platform bench by the window. The room was spotless. Our room lacked a balcony, but the view of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Chow Kit evoked a sense of nostalgia for growing up in Kuala Lumpur. Amenities included an electric kettle, tea, mugs, and a mini-fridge. The TV offered basic channels, but no Netflix.

Bathroom: Four Stars

Although small, the bathroom's white and black tiles created an impression of spaciousness. Wall-mounted bottles contained bath soap, shampoo, lotion, and handwash, adding a touch of luxury. A water pipe was available next to the toilet; there was no bidet.

Breakfast: Four Stars

For a smaller hotel, we were impressed with the breakfast selection. The cafe provided a pleasant and clean setting. Additional breakfast costs RM35 per adult.

Pool: Three Stars

The pool is located at the Hilton Garden Inn South (two blocks from the North Wing) on the rooftop. There's no kids' pool. The South Wing rooftop cafe boasts stunning views of metropolitan KL, including KLCC, KL Tower, Merdeka 118, and Kampung Baru.

Check-out: Five Stars

Check-out was a breeze thanks to the express check-out box. Simply drop your access card in the box.

Overall: Three Stars

We give the Hilton Garden Inn Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman North a solid 3.5 stars overall. It's a good choice for a short staycation in the heart of KL at a reasonable price. Its location near Kampung Baru makes it ideal for exploring local eateries. Consider it for overnight stays if you plan to shop in the KL area, especially during festive seasons, or for business in the city center. Use Grab for easy transport and to avoid parking hassles. The rooftop cafe in the South Wing, with its iconic KL landmarks backdrop, would be a fantastic spot for evening birthday or anniversary celebrations.
