Yamaguchi Adventures: Get Ready to Be Enchanted!
Just got back from a whirlwind trip around Yamaguchi Prefecture, and I'm still buzzing from the experience! Had to share the highlights while they're fresh in my mind.
Tsunoshima Bridge
Prepare to be stunned! This bridge is breathtaking. Spanning across turquoise waters, driving across feels like flying over the ocean. The best part? You don't even need a drone! Just climb a small hill nearby for that perfect, picture-postcard view.
Motonosumi Inari Shrine
A short 30-minute drive from the bridge, you'll find this gem. The shrine is famous for its 123 vibrant red torii gates lined up towards the sea. It's both majestic and serene, a place where the spiritual meets the picturesque.
Saba River Koi Nagashi
Lucky me! I visited during the Children's Day festival (May 3-5) and witnessed the enchanting sight of paper carp "swimming" in the river. It was utterly charming! The river transformed into a vibrant canvas of colorful streamers, with kids running joyfully and adults snapping photos.
Shuho Inarinomiya Shrine
This place has a slightly eerie charm, thanks to its weathered torii gates covered in moss. It's almost like stepping into a fairytale. Upon entering, you're greeted by tranquility, cool air, and a palpable sense of mystery.
Kintaikyo Bridge
This beautiful wooden bridge is surprisingly steep! But the panoramic view from the top is pure Japanese postcard material. Visiting during cherry blossom season would be an unforgettable experience, trust me.
Karato Market
Seafood heaven alert! Fresh fish galore and sushi stands everywhere you look. You can choose whatever your heart desires. On weekends, the market explodes into a full-blown seafood street food paradise – it feels like stepping right into a Japanese film!
Yamaguchi is captivating, easy to navigate, boasts delicious food, stunning scenery, and most importantly… the photos turn out amazing!
