Phú Quốc Getaway: 4 Days, 3 Nights, 7 Million VND
We hit Phú Quốc in March, booking our tickets a month ahead. As the trip neared, the weather forecast showed rain, causing some worry! We jokingly renamed our group "Phú Quốc Will Be Sunny!", and amazingly, the universe delivered. We had a Phú Quốc trip bathed in sunshine!
Getting Around
- Hanoi - Phú Quốc: Airplane (We snagged a sweet deal on a Lahana Resort room and round-trip tickets for 3.1 million VND per person).
- In Phú Quốc: Motorbike (150k VND/day), taxis, and electric cars (in the North and central areas), but those can get pricey.
Where We Stayed
We spent 3 nights at Lahana Resort (in the central area). The room was clean and had everything we needed. Looking back, I think it would have been better to split our stay with 2 nights in the North and 1 night in the South to cut down on travel time. Phú Quốc is divided into North, Central (Dương Đông Town), and South areas, and staying in the center meant EVERYTHING was a long drive away.
Our Epic 4-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Beach Vibes
- Fly from Hanoi to Phú Quốc
- Check into Lahana Resort
- Stand-up paddleboarding at Ecolodge Phú Quốc
- Dinner at Ocean Beach
Day 2: Exploring and Thrills
- Breakfast at Lahana Resort
- Suối Tranh Waterfall (Completely dry with tons of mosquitoes - not recommended)
- Lunch
- Hòn Thơm Cable Car (Amazing cable car views!)
- Swimming near the central area
- Dinner at Sun Việt
- Wander through Phú Quốc Night Market or party at Sunset Beach bar if you love music.
Day 3: Island Hopping Adventure
Booked a 4-island tour (we used phuquocsanhodo, only 550k VND for the basic tour)
- 9 AM: Pick-up from the resort
- Visit a pearl farm
- An Thới Port
- Hòn Mây Rút Trong (Drone video opportunity, but the video quality wasn't great)
- Hòn Gầm Ghì (Snorkeling to see coral)
- Lunch at Hòn Mây Rút Ngoài (Food was much tastier than on the mainland!), followed by SUP boarding photo ops (70k VND) or free time for swimming
- Return to the port
Day 4: Northward Bound and Departure
- Check out early to head to the North of the island
- Rạch Vẹm Starfish Beach
- Lunch at On The Rock: The food wasn't anything extraordinary, but the ocean view was beautiful. Reservations recommended, and there's a 2-hour table limit. Go during sunset for the best photos!
- Head to the airport for our flight back to Hanoi.
Budget Breakdown (For a Group of 3)
- Flights + Accommodation: 9.5 million VND (Combo without checked baggage)
- Transportation in Phú Quốc: 1.8 million VND
- Food: 4.5 million VND
- Activities: 5.2 million VND
- Total Cost: 21.1 million VND / 3 people = 7.1 million VND per person
With a budget of around 7 million VND each, we had an unforgettable 4 days and 3 nights in Phú Quốc – beautiful sunshine, blue seas, delicious food, and a mix of relaxation and partying. Perfect for a recharge at the start of the year!
