Da Nang Museum Review: Is It Worth Visiting? 🇻🇳

Highly Recommended... But Crowded!

The Da Nang Museum is absolutely worth a visit! However, be warned: it's currently so popular that it can be difficult to truly appreciate the historical artifacts within. There are exhibits both inside and outside the museum. Expect long lines to enter, and the museum might even close early to limit the number of visitors.

Inside the Museum:

  • Grand Entrance: The lobby is spacious and wonderfully air-conditioned.
  • One-Way Route: The exhibition route is designed as a one-way loop. Once you're in, you have to go all the way through. When we entered and saw the crowds, we wanted to turn back, but it was impossible! We had to push through to find the exit.
  • Maze-like Layout: The exhibition space feels like a maze, and the crowds can make it feel claustrophobic and disorienting. The ceilings are low, and the space is quite narrow. If you're uncomfortable in enclosed spaces, be aware. There are a few benches along the way where you can rest.
  • Tons to See: There are countless artifacts to admire, plus historical documentary screenings. This would be amazing with fewer people!
  • Classic Charm: The wood floors and staircases, combined with the French-style architecture, create a classic, elegant, and well-maintained atmosphere.
  • Staff Elevator Only: The elevator is only accessible to museum staff with a keycard. Visitors can't use it to select a floor.
  • Restrooms Available: There are restrooms along the exhibition route.

Outside the Museum:

  • Photo-Perfect Views: The exterior is airy and pleasant, with gardens, trees, and the tall French-style building as a backdrop. There are plenty of Instagram-worthy spots!
  • Two Sides: The museum has two sides, facing Tran Phu Street and Bach Dang Street. There are many beautiful photo opportunities on the Bach Dang side.

Tips for Visiting:

It's very crowded right now, especially on weekends. Weekdays are likely less busy. The afternoons tend to be less crowded than the mornings.

The museum has morning and afternoon sessions. Aim to arrive before 9 AM in the morning or before 3:30 PM in the afternoon to avoid peak times. Otherwise, you'll be battling the crowds and won't be able to see much.

I went today but didn't get to see much because it was so packed. I'll definitely return alone at a less busy time to fully appreciate it.

Planning Your Visit:

If your primary goal is to explore the museum, visit on a weekday afternoon, except for Friday afternoons (the museum is closed for cleaning). If you're mainly interested in taking photos, go early on a weekday morning (around 8:30 AM). There won't be too many people yet, and the morning light is beautiful, especially in the gardens and shining through the walls, creating a chill and visually stunning atmosphere.

Free Admission until 2025!

The Da Nang Museum offers free admission until 2025! This is a must-visit destination with many historical treasures, relics, and artifacts representing Da Nang's history through the ages.

If you're traveling to Da Nang, be sure to check it out! I'll write another review when the museum is less crowded! ☺️
