Calmo Chinatown Singapore: A 4D3N Review (Mar 23-26, 2024)
Our Stay at Calmo Chinatown
Just got back from a 4-day, 3-night trip to Singapore, staying at Calmo Chinatown! Here's the lowdown on our experience.
- The Squad: Three of us in a triple room.
- The Damage: S$770 (approx.) for 3 nights.
Important Booking Tip!
Heads up! Before our trip, I stumbled upon some concerning reviews about guests being asked to pay the full (and much higher) walk-in rate. Turns out, there are a few crucial things to keep in mind when booking:
- Lead Booker: The person who booked the hotel must be part of the traveling group.
- Credit Card Verification: You might need to show the credit card used for the booking. No card? The hotel *might* charge you the current rate (which could be double!).
We borrowed a friend's Visa just in case, but luckily, the front desk didn't ask for it. Phew!
The Deets
- Check-in: 3 PM
- Check-out: 11 AM
- Deposit: S$100 (refundable at check-out)
Room Reality Check
The website states 30m², but honestly, it felt more like 14-16m². I'd read reviews about this, so I wasn't too surprised. No room service during our 3-day stay.
Good news: the room had a balcony overlooking the bustling Chinatown streets!
Location, Location, Location!
The hotel's location is a major plus! Right in the heart of Chinatown, super convenient for sightseeing, and easy access to MRT and bus lines.
Perks & Quirks
- Free Water Refills: Located on the 2nd floor! (Though, initially, a staff member said no before we checked in...)
- Ironing & Printing: You can borrow an iron for free and even get documents printed.
- Room Amenities: AC, hot/cold water, hair dryer, and a universal adapter.
Rating: Listed as a 3-star hotel, but... not really a 3-star experience. :-3
Final Verdict
For us, the price, room, and location were all acceptable. A budget-friendly option in a prime location!
