Our Vung Tau Family Getaway: 3 Days of Fun!
Hey everyone! I'm excited to share details from our recent family trip to Vung Tau. We had 7 of us – 5 adults and 2 kids (8 and 10, basically adults, right? 😉). Get ready for some travel inspiration!Day 1: Ho Tram Charm & Vung Tau Vibes
- Morning Rush: We kicked off our adventure from Hoc Mon at 6 AM on Thursday, hitting a bit of traffic. By 10 AM, we arrived in Ho Tram.
- Seafood Bonanza: The Ho Tram fishing village was winding down, but we scored AMAZING fresh seafood for 1.2 million VND. Pro Tip: If the village is slow, head a bit further – tons of vendors with delicious, fresh catches. We also grabbed seats for 300k VND and snacks (banh loc, etc.) for 100k VND, making it a 1.7 million VND stop. Seriously, the seafood here is fresher and cheaper than in Vung Tau! The atmosphere is quieter though.
- Scenic Detour: At 2 PM, we hit the road to Vung Tau, stopping at the "Ho Tram Sea View Bridge" for a quick photoshoot. Parking was just 20k VND, and there were stalls with ice cream, drinks, and snacks at reasonable prices, no pressure to buy!
- Beachfront Bliss: By 4 PM, we checked into The Lux in Bai Dua. Our two-night, two-room stay for 7 cost 2.2 million VND. The rooms were airy with AMAZING views! Plus, the beach and iconic rock formations were just across the street – perfect for photos! Super convenient location – right next to Bien Dong seafood restaurant (always packed!) and a short walk from cafes like Soho and Katinat.
- Buffet Time!: We indulged in a buffet dinner at Lang Thang BBQ. While it was okay, our family aren't big eaters, so it wasn't the best value. The total bill (including drinks) was 1.9 million VND.
Day 2: Exploring Vung Tau's Highlights
- Breakfast of Champions: We started the day at 8 AM with Banh Canh Cha Ca Vien on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh street – only 35k VND a bowl! The broth was rich and flavorful, perfect for my salty taste. The total bill was 205k VND.
- Christ the King Statue & European Views: At 9 AM, we visited the Christ the King Statue, checking out the "European View" that's been trending! The weather was perfect – sunny and breezy! Pictures turned out great without any editing! The coffee was 40k VND a cup, which is reasonable for the view. Drink total was 200k VND.
- Chill Lunch: For lunch at noon, we grabbed Banh Khot and Com Phan to enjoy back at our place. With that sea view, eating in was the best option! Lunch cost 500k VND.
- Sunset & Sea: 5pm: Time to hit the beach and enjoy that beautiful sunset!
- DIY Seafood Feast: At 7 PM, we bought a Stingray Hotpot for 200k VND and hit up Xom Luoi Market for oysters and clams for steaming. Add some drinks and fruit, and the total was under 500k VND! We enjoyed a delicious seafood feast on our balcony.
Day 3: Culture & Farewell
- Noodle Soup Start: We had Hu Tieu at Tung Hung A Ty for breakfast at 7:30 AM. Bowls start at 65k VND. The broth was again rich and flavorful! The kids loved the wontons. Our breakfast bill was 480k VND.
- Virgin Mary Statue (Bai Dau): At 8:30 AM, we visited the Virgin Mary Statue (Bai Dau). The path is lined with beautiful flowers and greenery – great for photos! Remember to dress modestly when visiting the Christ the King Statue and Virgin Mary Statue – no revealing clothing or shorts/skirts above the knee.
- Farewell Lunch: We checked out at noon and grabbed lunch at Ba Ria Market. We picked up some dried goods and fish sauce and enjoyed one last meal in the area. Lunch was 350k VND.
