- To Ha Long: We snagged a bus from My Dinh bus station. It took about 4 hours to reach our hotel. I scored a sweet deal using VNPAY – only 120K VND each way! Keep an eye out for discount codes like VEXE50 (50% off, max 50,000 VND). Even better, Wednesdays offer cashback!
- Around Town: Motorbikes are the way to go! Cheap and super convenient for exploring.
2. Where to Crash: La Stella Hotel - Shiny & New!
We stayed at La Stella Hotel (275 Hau Can). It's a brand-new hotel, so everything was sparkling clean. Plus, they have a pool and bar! Cost us 800k VND per night on weekdays (add 100k VND for weekends).3. Foodie Paradise: Must-Try Ha Long Eats!
- Khanh Tuyen Seafood Noodles: (To 8, Khu 3B, P. Gieng Day, behind Bai Chay Hospital). Try the *bun be be* (mantis shrimp noodles) and *bun cu ky* (horse crab noodles) (35,000 – 50,000 VND/bowl).
- Ba Den Steamed Rice Rolls with Grilled Squid: (36 Doan Thi Diem, P. Bach Dang). The *banh cuon cha muc* (steamed rice rolls with grilled squid) is a MUST. (Squid 10k VND each; rice rolls 20k VND/plate).
- Ba Beo Sticky Rice with Grilled Squid: (Pho Thuong Mai, P. Bach Dang). Go for the *xoi cha muc* (sticky rice with grilled squid) (15,000 VND/serving).
- Cua Vang Restaurant (Golden Crab): (32 Phan Chu Trinh, Bai Chay). Expect to pay around 250k – 500k VND per person. I was stuffed for only 300k!
- Huong 2 Restaurant: (Tran Quoc Nghien Street, Hong Ha). Around 250k VND per person.
4. Our Awesome Itinerary: 2 Days of Fun!
Day 1: Theme Park Thrills & Night Market Vibes
- 9:00 AM: Arrived in Ha Long, grabbed a bite, and chilled.
- 10:00 AM: Hit up the theme park combo: Water Park + Queen Cable Car + Dragon Park (500k VND). Individual parks are 350k VND/ticket.
- 7:00 PM: Explored the Ha Long Night Market for tasty treats and souvenirs!
Day 2: Culture & Views!
- 7:00 AM: Breakfast at the hotel.
- 9:00 AM: Visited the Ha Long Museum and Library (they're right next to each other!).
- 10:00 AM: Checked out the epic views from Bai Tho Mountain.
- 2:00 PM: Headed back to Hanoi.
