Singapore Slingin': My Wild 4-Day Adventure (Part 3!)
Day 3: Bugis Buzz, Canning Fort Calm, & Chinatown Charm!
1️⃣ Bugis: A Kaleidoscope of Culture!
Fuel up with breakfast – then let's hit Bugis! Jump on the MRT (remember those tips from Parts 1 & 2?) and get ready to explore:
- Haji Lane: Just a 10-minute walk from Bugis station, this is where the street art comes ALIVE! Think vibrant murals, quirky graffiti – the perfect Insta-worthy alley. Prepare to be amazed!
- Arab Street: A quick 7-minute stroll from Haji Lane and BAM! You're in the heart of Singapore's Muslim community. Explore the charming cafes, unique shops, and don't miss the majestic Sultan Mosque (the largest in Singapore – picture perfect!).
- Little India: Okay, this one's a bit of a walk (about 25 minutes), but SO worth it. Prepare for a sensory explosion of colors, spices, and culture. Must-sees: Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, House of Tan Teng Niah, and the bustling Tekka Centre market.
Lunch Break! After Little India, hop on the MRT at Little India Station and head to City Hall Station. Find Raffles City Shopping Centre and head to B1-08 for Din Tai Fung. Keep your eye out for the robot servers – too cool!
Next up? Let's escape the city bustle and head to...
2️⃣ Canning Fort Park: History & Hidden Gems!
- Fort Canning Tree Tunnel (The Well): Get off at Dhoby Ghaut Station (Exit B), cross Penang Road, and keep walking. You'll see a tunnel on your left! Get ready to queue, but it's worth it for the iconic shot! Follow the Google Map to "spiral staircase photo spot".
- Fort Canning Centre: After the Tree Tunnel, wander over (about 10 mins) to the Fort Canning Centre. A popular spot for local students to chill and picnic.
- Sang Nila Utama Garden (Mini Bali!): Find this within Canning Fort Park. The Google Maps can be a bit tricky here, follow the signs in the park. This lush garden has a Balinese vibe!
- Archaeological Dig: Spotted this while walking to Sang Nila Utama Garden. What it is? No idea! 😅
Next, find Fort Canning Station! You'll pass these spots:
- Pancur Larangan
- Jubilee Park (Kids' Playground)
And there's MORE to explore: Pancur Larangan, Sally Port, Battlebox Museum, Fort Gate and Wall, Keramat Iskandar Shah… This park is PACKED! Check out the park map for planning your next adventure: https://www.nparks.gov.sg/-/media/fort-canning-media/map-of-fcp.pdf
3️⃣ Chinatown: A Sensory Overload!
Take the MRT from Fort Canning Station to Chinatown Station. Find Trengganu Street – it's bursting with Chinese restaurants and shops! Stroll around and then find:
- Buddha Tooth Relic Temple & Museum: A religious and artistic landmark. Sadly, it was closed when I visited.
Then find Potato Head (36 Keong Saik) and go!
- Sago Street
- Murals on Mohamed Ali Lane
Continue a 2-minute walk to Sri Mariamman!
Other places include the Red Dot Design Museum, Pinnacle@Duxton, and Thian Hock Keng Temple. Get back to the hotel for rest!
4️⃣ Clark Quay: Let's Get This Party Started!
I went to I Light Festival, then had Bingsu at Bugis. After eating, let's get this party started in Clark Quay! After this, get some Frog Porridge in Geylang. Then, back to the hotel for some rest.
Day 3 DONE!
Day 4: Gardens by the Bay & Changi Send-Off!
1️⃣ Gardens by the Bay: Surreal Scenes
Head to the Bayfront Station. Take the Gardens By The Bay Exit! Look for spots to take some pictures! This place is awesome!
To take a picture, you'll have to walk for 60 minutes. Go straight from the station and look to the left. After Chinese Garden, turn left. Just ask an employee where the spot is.
Next, let's go to the MRT station, so we can head to the hotel.
2️⃣ Jewel Changi Airport: A Final Farewell
Last chance to soak up Singapore! I had time to swing by Jewel.
- Grabbed a bite at the food court.
- Boarded my flight back to Vietnam.
That's a wrap on my 4-day Singapore adventure! Didn't get to do EVERYTHING, so I'll be back! 😉
