🤩 China on a Budget: My Epic Trip with a Border Pass! 🤩

Hey there, travel junkies! Get ready to ditch the visa stress and explore some amazing hidden gems in China using just a border pass! Let me spill the tea on my recent adventure...

What's the Deal with a Border Pass?

Okay, so here's the lowdown. This magical little document lets you explore certain areas of China without the hassle of a full-blown visa. All you need is your ID card! Where can you go? Buckle up:

  • Ha Khẩu
  • Mông Tự
  • Kiến Thủy
  • Di Lặc
  • Bình Biên

You can choose from day trips to full-on 3-day-2-night excursions, depending on how much you want to see! And prices vary depending on the tour you choose. I went for the ultimate experience – the full 5-stop tour – the longest one available, and totally worth it!

My 3-Day Chinese Adventure! 🚀

Day 1: Stepping Back in Time in Kiến Thủy

  • 6:30 AM: We hit the Lào Cai border crossing, ready to roll!
  • VIP Treatment: No lines for us! Our tour group zoomed through security while others were stuck waiting (major perk!).
  • Mông Tự Lunch & Kiến Thủy Bound: Fueling up before heading to our first destination!
  • Kiến Thủy Ancient City: First stop, the mini Tiananmen Square (Triều Dương Tower) – almost 700 years of history!
  • Chu Gia Hoa Viên: Next, the stunning Chu Family Garden, a massive 20,000 square meter estate boasting classic Chinese architecture. Seriously, rock that qipao or traditional ethnic clothing for the perfect photo opp!
  • Kiến Thủy Night Market: This place is buzzing at night! The grilled goodies are seriously on point! So delicious! 😂

Day 2: Wine, Flowers, and Pink Grass in Di Lặc

  • Di Lặc Winery: Imagine a winery designed like giant wine barrels, surrounded by vibrant bougainvillea. Picture-perfect! Plus, there's a huge flower garden bursting with color. White dresses are a must for those Insta-worthy shots! You'll have so many photos, you won't know which ones to post! 😂
  • The Pink Grass Hill: Okay, technically it's not grass, it's flowers, but they look like pink grass! Seriously magical. Get those videos and photos because you NEED this on your feed. This stuff looks like it never dies!

Day 3: Bình Biên, Mông Tự & Hà Khẩu – A Whirlwind Finale!

  • Bình Biên's Miao Village (Tích Thủy): Think a miniature version of Phượng Hoàng Ancient Town! Chinese architecture is seriously impressive!
  • Costume Time?: This village is perfect for some traditional costume photos, but the sun was beating down, and I was tired. :)) Plus, there was a bit of flooding that day, so the water wasn't super photogenic.
  • Mông Tự's "Crossing-the-Bridge" Noodles: Lunchtime! These noodles come in a bowl the size of a washbasin! ;)))) It was surprisingly tasty! I guess I've become less picky lately because I've been enjoying every bite I have! 😂
  • Hà Khẩu Shopping Spree: Freedom to shop and eat! The bubble tea and baked goods are a MUST-TRY! Seriously amazing! :))) Shopping-wise, it felt a bit pricey, or maybe I was just asking about the expensive stuff. :))
  • Homeward Bound: Back to Việt Nam, ending a 3-day-2-night adventure filled with too many beautiful photos, even though I was lazy about taking them! =))))
