Discover the Ultimate Local Bun Bo Hue Spot That Will Blow Your Mind

Hey everyone! If you’re a total foodie planning a trip to dreamy Hue, you’ve gotta read this. I just found this super legit Bun Bo Hue joint that is honestly mind-blowing—one bite and you’ll be hooked! 🥰 During my recent trip to Hue, I wanted to skip the usual tourist traps in the city center and find something more authentic. So, I went on a mini-mission on Google Maps. I’ll actually share my tips on how to scout for hidden local gems without failing in a separate post soon!

A Hidden Gem Tucked Next to a Cafe

The spot I’m talking about is a charming little stall located right next to a cafe at 14 To Huu Street. They’re open from early morning until they run out of stock, and it’s mostly locals who dine here. The menu has clear prices, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

The “Must-Order” Selection – Beef Shank, Brisket, Crab Cakes, and Beef Balls

My brother and I decided to go for two "special" bowls loaded with everything: rare beef, brisket, crab cakes (cha cua), and beef balls. I specifically picked these because I wanted to test the quality of the core ingredients.

Authentic, Unforgettable Flavours

The broth? Absolutely spot on. It has that signature Hue depth—clean, rich, and with a subtle hint of fermented shrimp paste (ruoc) that isn't overpowering. You can tell the sweetness comes naturally from simmering bones, not from MSG or sugar. I reckon they use a mix of pork and beef bones, which gives it that unique flavour profile. It’s way better than the other spots I’ve tried.

  • Rare beef & brisket: Super tender, fragrant, and zero "gamey" smell.
  • Beef balls: Had that nice, springy texture (shiok!)—a sign they’re made with fresh beef.
  • Crab cakes (Cha Cua): The highlight of the meal! I kid you not, I haven’t had crab cakes this good anywhere else. There’s a light touch of seasoning that blends perfectly with the soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture, yet it’s still firm enough. Packed with real crab meat; one bite and you’ll be obsessed.

At 40,000 VND per bowl, it’s super value-for-money. The portion size is perfect—satisfying without being too overwhelming like those tourist-heavy places. It was so good that we even bought 1kg of their crab cakes to take home for 280,000 VND.

A Must-Visit Spot for Bun Bo Lovers

If you're ever in Hue, do yourself a favour and drop by this place! You’re definitely in for a treat. 🫶🏻
