Essential Bali Travel Tips And Personal Experiences Guide
Just got back, so I want to share my personal thoughts with you guys:
- Traditional check-in is faster than the autogate (for both arrival and departure) because the queue at the autogate is longer than the traditional one. Upon entry, they will paste a small information slip into your passport, and upon departure, they will stamp next to it.
- Airport food is also quite cheap; people buying water or simple items at the Will Smith supermarket (don't remember if the name is spelled correctly) are half the price of the restaurants outside. It's fine to temporarily buy some water and food to take on the plane.
- Transportation prices in Bali are too cheap, but out of 10 Grab rides, about 6 or 7 get canceled, and drivers ask to cancel to drive privately with a price double the app's shown price. Xanh SM over there is even cheaper than Grab, charging per trip instead of waiting time. Wandering around everywhere every day, from South Bali to North Bali..., the maximum was only about 400 IDR and they didn't demand anything, plus the cars were clean and the drivers polite. At the end of the day, I would tip an extra 100 because they followed me all day and were very polite. The trip from the center is easy to book, but the return trip from many remote spots will have no service, so you or your friends should ask if they can pick you up for the return trip or go to other spots and at what time...
- Not recommended to visit Uluwatu Temple if you don't want to watch the kecak dance because it's too crowded, noisy, far away, and the monkeys are troublesome.
- Really recommended to stay in Kuta because it is unbelievably convenient. If you like privacy, choosing 4 or 5-star hotels and resorts is fine too. At first, I hesitated a lot, but in the end, I found staying in Kuta to be great for getting around, whether walking or riding to places.
- Pandawa Beach is too beautiful. You can choose paragliding and check in at the cliff road first, then go down to the beach to enjoy the scenery and swim in the afternoon (the two spots are next to each other, about 1 km apart). The ticket to the beach area plus the ticket to that cliff road, I don't remember the exact price, but it's around 60 IDR/person for both spots.
- The central, beautiful, and fancy mall is Beach Walk at Kuta Beach, which is very impressive and offers a good experience. The Living World Denpasar mall is both far and not as bustling as Beach Walk, even though it's bigger. Anyone determined to shop can do so because different markets mean some of their clothing, shoes, and bag designs will be more abundant than ours, and the "made in..." part differs on many products.
- I'm not addicted to/fond of Starbucks much, just drink it when it's convenient, but no matter which shop you go to, items like cups, mugs, etc., are wildly beautiful and diverse in many models, no wonder people often ask to buy and bring them back 😂.
- Safari is not too big, but it's okay to visit, kids love it.
- Before going, you should buy an esim directly (if the phone supports esim) on MoMo, Viettel Money, etc., which is safe and convenient to choose.
- The weather is nice, sunny but not harsh with a cool breeze. However, the UV index is high, so those who want to protect their skin remember to apply sunscreen.
- Should visit GWK Cultural Park.
- Their largest denomination is 100,000 and all denominations are paper money (except for small coins), so wallets and money are easily crumpled, everyone please be careful not to tear the money.
- Dining depends on you, I didn't place too much emphasis on it and enjoyed everything from high-end to casual to experience it without being picky.
