My wife and I are just back from a fantastic five days in Singapore.
A few tips for those interested:
• There was no need for cash, everywhere took credit cards.
• We bought EZ pass cards for the MRT, more for convenience than anything else. Don't buy the tourist ones unless you want souvenirs, you'll never get the value from them.
• The MRT is fantastic; convenient, clean and very cheap. We didn't use any other transport. It helped our hotel (Orchid) was so close to Tanjong Pagar station.
• We highly recommend:
Gardens by the Bay, especially the Cloud Forest
The Oceanarium at Sentosa
The Botanical Gardens (if you're 60 or over, take ID, you'll get in to the Orchid display for a couple of bucks!)
Fort Canning, a personal highlight, which has a great museum as well as the gardens
SkyDeck at Marina Bay Sands. We were prevented from going for our original booking due to a storm, but if that happens to you, take a picture of the notice they display and then email them and they may take pity on you, as they did with us, and rebook you, despite what it says on the ticket 😉
