Free Paris City Hall Access: Visit "France, a Family Album" Exhibit

Free Entry to Paris City Hall: Catch the 'France, un album de famille' Photo Exhibition

I recently visited the stunning photo exhibition France, un album de famille at Paris City Hall (Hôtel de Ville). What started as a quiet afternoon turned into an exciting surprise—Yann Arthus-Bertrand, the renowned photographer, curator, and co-organizer, made a surprise appearance! The crowd buzzed with energy as it spontaneously became a photo-op moment.

You might not be rushing to see the exhibit itself, but here's why I'm sharing this now: It's your rare chance to step inside Paris City Hall for free. Normally, this iconic landmark is only open during special events like European Heritage Days, but thanks to the exhibition, anyone can enter during the show—free of charge with a reservation. There are still plenty of spots available!

France has just kicked off the two-week vacances de la Toussaint (All Saints' Day school holidays), a time much like Japan's Obon when families head home for cemetery visits. You'll spot travelers with massive suitcases at train stations, parks filled with kids even on weekdays, and seasonal flower stalls lining the entrances to Paris cemeteries. 💐 The city takes on a lively, festive vibe.

While exploring Paris, make time for a City Hall visit and this free exhibit—it's a perfect, low-key addition to your itinerary.
