Jodd Fairs: Conquer Leng Zapp's Dragon Rib Challenge

Jodd Fairs: Conquer Leng Zapp's Dragon Rib Challenge

If you've gone to the trouble of coming to Bangkok and don't stop by Jodd Fairs night market to check out the "dinosaur" mountain rib dish Leng Zapp, it's a huge miss. This is no longer just food but a kind of "challenge" for your stomach.

Here are some "blood and guts" experiences I gained after sitting down to wrestle with this rib tower; save them to make your visit smooth:

🦴 Leng Zapp: Don't let the name "Mountain Rib" panic you
Step into Jodd Fairs, just look for the place with towering rib towers covered in green chilies—that's it.

Medium size (499 Baht): Don't underestimate the word "medium"; it's huge, enough for 2-3 people to eat until exhausted.

Dinosaur size (1299 Baht): This is the "legendary" rib tower you often see online. It's super big, looks like a real mountain. Honest advice is only order this when you're in a group of 5-6 people or more; if 2 people order this, you'll just... sit looking at each other and cry.

Flavor: The ribs are stewed extremely tender, falling off the bone. The essence is the sour, spicy, rich broth; eating it with white rice is super addictive. But warning in advance: it's very spicy because of the whole "forest" of green chilies on top; if you can't handle spice, remember to tell the staff to reduce the chilies.

📍 Directions as easy as eating candy
You don't need to worry about getting lost or spending money on taxis because this market is in an extremely convenient location:

Subway (MRT): Just hop on the MRT, get off at Thailand Cultural Centre station, exit at Exit 3 and you'll see the market right in front of you.

Shopping more: Right next to the market is Big C Place Ratchadaphisek supermarket. If you're wary of going to Big C in the center (like Central World area) because it's overcrowded with tourists and endless checkout lines, then coming here is a smart choice. Goods and souvenirs are exactly the same as in the city but much more relaxed to move around.

💡 Small tips for a "delicious" experience
Wear gloves: The stall usually provides plastic gloves; boldly put them on and "battle"; using chopsticks with this dish means you'll never get all the meat stuck in the bones.

Timing: Around 7-8 PM is when the market is busiest; Leng Zapp stall often has long lines. If you want to take it easy, go a bit earlier around 5:30 - 6 PM is perfect.

Dessert: After eating the spicy ribs, stop by the coconut water or coconut ice cream stalls right in the market to "rescue" your tongue.

After finishing this rib tower, you feel full and buzzed from the signature sour-spicy Thai flavor. Are you ready to challenge this dinosaur rib tower? If you need me to recommend other "top" street food snacks at Jodd Fairs, just message me!
